turnovers do count... in fact, they are a big part of the game, probably more important than meaningless yards that many teams get late in the game...
and also, defensive TD's count just as much as offensive TD's, but yet, you won't see exploits of a defensive TD reflected on total yardage stats

you can't just focus on yardage stats when breaking down a game Imran
that's why numbers like the Atlanta game can be misleading...
in the end, the only numbers that matter are the score of the game!
