Yes its true that the Greens and Left want to reduce useless uneconomic, polluting and resource hogging private driving. Have you ever though how much tax payers money is poured into new freeways and stuff per annum? Even those who dont own a car. Have you ever though we dont actually enjoy inhaling deadly exhaustion from your half empty Corolla? Have you?

Perhaps now you understand why promoting mass transportation via high gasoline taxes is both economically as well as enviromentally important.

promoting, don't you mean punishing those who don't use mass transit? For reasons that could be a) there is no mass transit if you live in most parts of Finland, b) it's expensive c) even if there was one, you'd still have to use car to get to work etc..

Basically what you say is, we should PUNISH everything so that everyone almost HAS to use mass transit. This is commie BS. We don't want to use the mass transit. Even more so because it's non-existent or not working properly to suit our needs.

Dont you see the flaw of your argument? The mass transportation doesnt work because it was killed off by the Right Wing politicians. I agree that the gasoline tax is unequal and unfair to the people living in Lapland where the nearest hospital might be 200 km away but you dont live there, do you?
