How often do you go to church

just for special occasions, so on average, once or twice a year maybe

but so far this year I've been to 3 confirmations and 2 funerals

...apparently our local priests believe ignorance is bliss, they never ask and we don't tell. Maybe they ask the 'regulars' but not the large mass dragged in on Easters and other holidays?

The last time I actually went '1 on 1' with a priest I was like 8 and it was fancy dress/show day at the church. Or whatever they call it.

Actually i just read were the church is trying to rule out communion on these special masses since a large turn out is to show up. They claim the communion service makes the mass as a whole alot longer then expected. and the priests are complaining of the large x amounts showing up for communion and communion only go figure ur catholic and cant go recieve communion on easter cause the priest dont want to be there that long

Yea, speaking of intermarriage and Jews... now there is some strict tradition...

Whatever rules the Catholic church has about intermarriage, the culture among Jews about intermarriage is much worse (not the more liberal ones of course). I dated a Jewish girl once... that was fun..

I received my confirmation when I was 11 year old.
Please don't blame the Church, just the local Priest. When I Mother died (1984) the Priest of this church in Riverbank, Ca., said it was Easter time and he did not have time to have Mass for her. So one of my cousin told me let's go the church where she goes and see what happen. At her church which my Mother has never attended said no problem, but this is Easter Weekend, so if it is OK with you (me) we'll do it on Monday.
Let face it some Priest are Priest and some just wear the clothes.

when visiting my aunt in South Carolina. Its much easier to endure a little bit of Catholicism on Sunday (I'm not Catholic even) than to have her preaching to me about why I should be religious every other day of my stay.

I've been to churches/mosques a few times for marriages. I've been to a large number of churches in Europe this Summer because they are so badazz from an aesthetic (and historical) point of view (obviously not in the US since Protestants have no taste) , and because they're generally free (except for the Sistine Chapel ). The last time that I'd been to a mosque for (ostensibly) a religious reason was when I was visiting some fundie cousins of mine several years ago, who dragged me to one.

Mr harley would know the answer to this question, from what i know his misus is jewish, and he is a non practicing cathlolic. I could be wrong but i dont think so.

In a mixed marriage, what must the Catholic promise? The Catholic must sign promises:
To remain a Catholic.
To see to it that the children are baptized and are brought up as Catholics.
Also, the Catholic party must inform the non-Catholic of these promises.

May a Catholic marry a non-Catholic? You should not, except for a very serious reason.

You love them and possibly want to raise kids with them within a marriage... could that be a very serious reason?

That doesnt make any sense from my standing, since a catholic cannot marry a non catholic in a catholic cermoney unless that other person has made the sacraments required before marriage which is baptism confesion and confirmation. You cannot not be married in the catholic church with out these sacraments. I am not saying your wrong but this has been my experience.

Or unless the priest doesn't care. Which is the case quite often.
