IIRC Anglicans are permitted to take Catholic sacraments because our sacraments are very similar. Some conservative Catholics still maintain however that while a Catholic may receive communion at an Anglican church it "doesn't count". I'm not certain what's up with that.

That's rather problematic for a couple of reasons. First of all, if you are in love with each other, you want to go to church together and share.
As for the children, are you going to alternate with them? Stop going altogether? Or is one spouse going to allow the other to take them to their church?
For many folks religion is an integral part of their lives.
Why do you need to push your belief upon the other part ? You don't do it if it's political differences - why should religious belief be different ? And yes, political standpoints can be a very integral part of a persons life, so it's comparable.
Let the children learn both or neither and let them descide for themself. Thats the only human thing to do unless of course you think that it's reasonable to impress them from early childhood with the "right" belief.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

In the two couples that I know who broke because of religion, the problem was entirely about children:
- In one case, it was a diehard protestant (more accurately, his family was diehard, he is personally just devout) who considered that if his children weren't properly christian, they go to hell. Something absolutely and utterly unacceptable to him. His atheistic girlfriend was also very hostile to religion in general, which didn't help.
- In the other case, a moderate Muslim girl could not imagine raising a family that wasn't muslim. The first boy had to be called Mohammed. The family would eat hallal meat, and would practice the ramadan as well as other Muslim holidays. Her boyfriend, an apathetic Jew, would have agreed raising a religionless family in the French tradition, but not an Arabic one.
I can understand where these people's stances come from. These are very important items in the heads of the religionists, and they are unacceptable in the heads of the atheists (I myself don't think I could accept that the mother of my kids brainwashes them with religious propaganda either - maybe because I don't intend to brainwash my kids with commie propaganda).

I quite understand this, and it makes me sad. Problem is that if you don't oppose it, wether it's religious or politcal based, then these situations will keep on popping up and destroy peoples life.
I don't mind if people are religious, but I think that children has the right to choose for themself when they are able to do it.

I would want to raise my kids how I see fit religiously

No, Anglicans are not allowed to take communion in a catholic church.
Only roman catholics can, and only if they are free from mortal sin at that particular moment, that is why most people confess before communion.
Anyway, if you are agonizing, and there is only a catholic priest around, he will listen to your confession and give you the eucharist, even if you are not a catholic.
In the soviet gulags, Greek catholic Ukranians and Russian Orthodox Priests who were prisoners, gave communion and all the sacraments to the other prisoners, and it didnt matter if they priests or prisoners were catholics or orthodox.
A non-catholic is allowed to get married to a catholic in the catholic church as long as he-she agrees to raise the kid in the catholic church.
Brachy-Pride, From what I know most interfaith Jewish marriages require that the non-Jewish spouse convert in order to be married by a rabbi to begin with.
And it doesn't happen as far as I can tell. My mom married a Jew - so what? She takes communion.
EVERY single Cathlolic and non Catholic I know is in this sitaution.

This is the "official" way it's supposed to go and the way I have always seen it go. Those of you have seen otherwise, your priest is bending the rules.

I have have seen this situation too many times to count.
Or, have seen a few couples convert to becoming Catholics to avoid the conflict and be in line with each other.
