I don't think the right wingers purposely underestimate her skills as a politician, unlike many lefties do habitually.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Bush Sr's father had a problem with being to attached to making money. He continued to trade and profit off of the Nazi war effort long after the US entered the war so that Congress stated inquiries into his busines affairs with the Axis. Nothing happened to him primarially because he had so much money and was so well connected. Lord knows that financing the enemies war effort should have been an act of treason.

What is it with the Reactionaries' constant obsession with Hillary?

What are they so scared of?

            Subconcious fear of women?

And hell yeah I'd vote for her.

I don't think it should be. Germany's getting a right wing female Chancellor. The UK had a right wing female prime minister that had the biggest balls of them all.

However, there's the novelty factor in the United States, which I think that Hillary supporters are afraid of. Hence the effort to make the unwashed masses comfortable with the whole deal.

I'd seriously consider voting for Hillary. It depends upon who she's running against.

So you would only be comfortable with a right-wing woman for president.

Hey, Hillary isn't my candidate. She's yours!

There are very few articles written in the press nowadays that don't include the fact that she's the frontrunner for the Democratic Party nomination. As we've established beyond a shadow of a doubt, the press is about as liberal as Hillary.

Even you admit that the nomination is hers if she wants it.

The Hillary situation is interesting. Most of the Democratic activists (I can't speak for the DNC) seem to think that she's the inevitable candidate, but support someone over her. When she does run, the media will probably prop her up, like they did Dean before Iowa, which may either help or hurt her in the primary. Personally, I think that she will, against her will, become backed by the more liberal wing of the party, against a centrist like Mark Warner or Wesley Clarke.

But if she does get the nomination, things will be even more interesting. The right wing of the Republican party has spent so long hating everything about her that that could turn into an advantage for her. The fact is, many independents shy away from rabid hate, which certainly hurt Kerry to some extent. I think the anti-Hillary types could end up becoming a liability. Also, she may swing the female vote back to the Democrats, which would probably give her the election, though, on the other hand, there seems to be a certain category of female voter who votes on national security, and may feel safer voting for a man.
"Remember, there's good stuff in American culture, too. It's just that by "good stuff" we mean "attacking the French," and Germany's been doing that for ages now, so, well, where does that leave us?" - Elok
