  • Hillary, President

It seems like the media is trying to prepare the way for a female POTUS, with Hillary Clinton firmly in mind. You are seeing thinly-veiled propaganda such as Commander in Chief on TV, etc.

Would you ever vote for Hillary for president in the primaries (if you are inclined toward the Democratic Party)? In the general election?

I would never vote for her in the general election and think she would make a bad president, but I think that she's a good politician -- easily the best that the Democrats have to offer. She's been through the fire before and has become effective, determined, and disciplined.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

    You really are delusional.

It's all part of making people feel like it's no big deal to have a female president. I don't think I'm delusional. Or at least, this opinion is no indication of the extent of my delusions.

I won't support her in the primaries. Hell no.

But there is no possible Republican alternative I would vote for in a general election.

She would be the lesser of two evils.

Yes, I would vote for her in the general election.

You wouldn't vote for McCain, Sava?

I think McCain would be eaten up by Clinton. McCain has been tried and found lacking.

I actually agree that it's possible CiC is in part an attempt at seeing if a woman would work (or even trying to convince us as to such). It'd not be the first time the media helped a political cause ... and they're certainly not helping a Republican cause.

Well, it depends what kind of President he would be.

                    He is Pro-Life.

But I could support him if he would not actively work to restrict abortion.

Also, what are his views on drug policy?

                    How is he economically?

Would he be an irresponsible tax cutter? (there can be responsible tax cuts BTW)

I respect McCain very much, and would vote for him over a weak Democrat for a Senate seat. But maybe not for President.

                    Probably not against Hillary.

But against someone who I felt would be a really awful President, maybe.

McCain's too Moderate and Extremist at the same time ... he believes too strongly in his own personal beliefs. I love that in a guy (although i'm not really a McCainite)... but it's not what makes you president. You need to be either a party-line man who proves you're willing to push whatever the party line is, at least to a reasonable extent (ie Bush), or a very charismatic personality (JFK, Reagan, B. Clinton), or some other popularity gainer (Arnold!)...

I'm really not sure which republican will run for president in 2008 ... I'd love to see a more moderate run, someone who's conservative enough to win the right-end and religious-right vote, but moderate enough to say "I'm not Bush. Really." I'm just not sure who there is who can do both ...

Yeh, but this isn't about the GOP candidate. This is about Hillary. She will be a strong candidate, no matter who the GOP drafts into the field.

Why is it only the right wingers want Hillary as President? It seems to me they're creaming their pants hoping she runs becaue they know she can't win.

Oerdin's post is just another indication that the Democratic Party has no fight. They'll bail on Clinton after the first Hillary is a lesbian whispering campaign.

I dunno... I've seen a lot of polls that suggest Hillary would probably win if she ran.

Be careful what you wish for, I guess... (is what I would say to those RW types)

but many in the ranks of liberals don't like Hillary too much... she's very outspoken pro-Iraq-war, but critical of Bush...
