High end watches make sense as jewelry but what I don't get are the high end cellphones. There are some jewelers selling phones where the plastic case has been replaced by gold or other such stuff. I can't help but laugh at the idiot who spend tens of thousands on an item which has such a short life span as a cell phone.

I spent 80 bucks on my watch, because I need a watch when I am out. I hate using my cell as a clock (hate phones in general), and it is so much easier simply looking at your wrist to know the time.

That said, I don't think I would spend more than say 120 on a watch.

Of course its a status symbol- why else would anyone get any personal fashion accessorie at the high end? Why would anyone get a $2000 suit, or a $500 Shirt, or a $300 tie?

Quality perhaps, or longevity of a product. Some expensive items you can't even tell it's expensive if you're not an expert and people buy such things to.
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars
