  • Chess players don't have enough passion

    This is true.

I mean, have you ever seen a gang fight by chess players? No you haven't. Or if you have, AWESOME!!!

In any sports, you need to have passion to succeed, you need to love the game and think about the team (if team sport) more than yourself. You need to .. I mean in true sports, everyone injures themselves, and carries them like rankings in their sleeves, unless it was career breaking one, because those are sad.

You watch hockey, and you see people pissed off.. what do they do? They start boxing. That's it. No fancy moves, just unloading their hands in turn or the same time. Because they have passion. They have the passion to do that.

In any sports, when you are playing against same quality as yourself, hopefully this is the top quality, you are going to face a situation that maybe better day for someone will win the game, who knows!

But the fact is, the games are tight, and when someone breaks the unwritten rules of contact, or you screw up something, what happens is that you will lose your temper. If you don't have temper, then you don't have personality, and if you don't have personality, you should just kill yourself right now.

It's not about hurting your team by doing stupid things. That's just stupid. But when it's on, IT'S ON! You want to kill the other person(people). And you kind of try that, but within reasons. That would mean with your fists and not with weapons, and when other one drops down and is not awake, then you're supposed to walk away and feel good about it.

So I mean, chess players, when they might see omg I just walked into a trap and I kidn of sensed it but still I went on about my stupid strategy, what do they do? They try to regroup themselves and play the losing game until it's over. They don't have passion. They should throw the board in the air and try to kill their opponent until the security zaps them and throws a net over the player. And when the day is over, you might have lost the game, but you showed character and that you have passion, you love the game and if someone tries to take it away from you, they will be facing you no matter what.

And important fact, you have to do it within the game, not after the game. After the game and you are nothing but criminal and bad loser. Within the game? GO TIME!!!

    Your thoughts?

have you ever seen the chess boxing pekka?

"Is it April 1st?", a number of readers asked. Chess boxing? Putting players in a boxing ring for chess and boxing? The crowd screaming for blood and piece sacrifices? Our recent report described the setup, now the organisers have sent us a report and pictures to prove that they are really serious about this new discipline.

I know personally that chess can get very serious..

This is a truly novel and ingenious troll.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Well you tell me? You'd watch it. I know everyone in here would love to see it happening. Of course not to see anyone get seriously hurt.. but just a little maybe?

Besides, obviously some sports people are insane and violent by nature and they want to hurt people, but these are not the folsk I talk about. I talk about the skilled players and people who generally are not violent, but when someone checks you from behind.. you know you will be punishing them very soon, and in fact you WANT to punish them, even if their kids are watching in the audience. YOu make daddy bleed!

Jon, hey that's great i've heard jokes like if you combine to sports.. and there was the chess and boxing, but I didn't know they actually do it!

Anyway this is not to put down chess players. I like playing chess too. It's a great game. All I'm saying is, chess players more likely than not don't have any passion, and if you don't have passion, you will lose in life too.

DanS, I don't understand this. What do you mean a troll? If stating the truth is trolling, then hey I guess I'm guilty of it.

I think you might be one of those chess players...

I'm a chess player and I'll kick your ass. I played chess against the chess team at a military school. They seriously kicked ass.

Hence, based on the Pekka passion scale (PPS), soccer players are less passionate than male hockey players, female hockey players are less passionate than their male counterparts, American football players are less passionate than baseball players and all these pale in comparison with boxers.

There needs to be more trash talk in chess.

                        "Bishop to Queen 4, b***h!"

"My Knight is gonna **** your Queen, b***h!"

"This is my house! You don't use the Karpovsky opening in my house, b***h!

nostromo, no that's not true. For example loads of soccer players are extremely passionate.

Chess players however... they are grey and boring and prolly losers too.
