Dracon, they're just whining - official statistics show no noticeable inflation as a result of introducing Euro, in any of the countries.

Single currency, and the support for the east should have helped with regional standard of living too.

I'm still waiting for the single currency, so it's still the same hassle calculating the price when crossing the borders

And I haven't noticed any raise in the prices, candy and Coca Cola/Pepsi is still as cheap in Germany as before the change
This space is empty... or is it?

The inefficiency and heavy handedness of EU labor laws has helped bring a lot of investment to the US instead of Europe. That's helped our economy and thus helped me find a job.

Yeah, until the Department of Homeland Security started arresting people for driving down the street to buy gasoline as a gas station many border towns were effectively one town. It's weird how there's no signs and the two tiny towns have merged into one town with the grocery store on one side of the border while the gas station in on the other side, but, DoHLS wants to arrest people for illegal entry for living as they've lived for 150 years in that town.

EU has given/will be a stepping stone for the united earth and the new world order, where the elect few will live off the mindless herd of submissive sheep-folk. And dispair not, ye unbelievers, for these words are backed with nuclear weapons!

                    Ease of travel across borders.
Of course, people will argue that this gives illegal immigrants free rein, but for we Yurpeans, it's great.

Have wages risen in Italy to compensate?

                          LOL!

Yes because they need to keep prices low for the fatasses. Check prices for quality services and tell me they´re still the same
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Restaurants increased their prizes about 10 to 20%, some others took advantage of it too.

                                Inflation in Italy

                                1999: 1.7%
                                2000: 2.6%
                                2001: 2.3%
                                2002: 2.6%
                                2003: 2.8%
                                2004: 2.3%

Bit on the high side, but not shockingly so. Italy had far worse early nineties.

(btw, Eurostat is some other great EU achievement I'm benefiting from )
