  • GTA San Andreas promotes immorality

I have in my many years of gaming, likley killed millions of lifeforms, humans being in the tens of thousands if not higher.

I've played every other GTA game till now and i've loved them.

    I just got San Andreas.....

In all the other games, they've steadily slid towards more realism in the protagonist and in the game. Now, we have a protagonist who seems *VERY* real.

He is also, not a very nice person. He is a hired killer, arguments of the morality of his actions are moot, he robs a convenience store on the third mission for no reason other then money.

The game tries to play off the protagonist as a compelling, moral character whose actions are justified, even though they are not.

Vice City made *NO* attempt to make the protagonist seem like a moral individual. You were involved in the drug trade and completley immoral, the game did not in any way try to make the bad actions seem okay. You did very bad things and it made it clear you were a VERY bad person.

In San Andreas, they try to make the protagonists extremley immoral actions seem moral, and I have to admit though they fail, they make a valliant effort. They make attempts to make him seem like a good guy in his actions with his gang.

This will and does effect impressionable children-I felt almost a gag reflex at times, it really is not nice.

I know its far, far too late considering how long this game has been out but violence and sex aside, I wouldn't let anyone 14 or under get their hands on this game.

one of the greatest games ever made

too bad they didn't have multiplayer

      GTA doesn't promote anything... it's a game...
To us, it is the BEAST.

I agree, Sava, the entire GTA 3 series (GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas) are some of the best games of all time .

If kids turn towards violence because of a game, then the parents have failed. Of course the kids would have just blamed TV otherwise.

Even though it is Adults Only, and as such cannot be purchased for the intent of letting anyone under 18 play?

Of course irresponsible parents are the #1 problem, but games like this don't help.

LOL don't think i'm calling for a ban, harsher restrictions, or anything.

I am simply stating that San Addreas promotes immorality.

Porn promotes immorality too. What's so special about a video game whose entertainment value comes from its coverage of taboo subjects?

The immorality of pornography is suspect.

Everyone(almost) agrees that theft and violence is wrong.

What about movies like the "Godfather" and TV shows like "The Sopranos"?

To go further, I think people are having problems with GTA because a lot of people seem not to have realized that video games aren't just for children anymore. Movies like the Godfather are ok, because they are for adults, but people don't realize that GTA is as well.

Fred Phelps is immoral. We are immoral, we all are. The only people with true moral are Taliban and super radicals. Screw them. I'd rather be immoral and free and not acting up on it, than super moral, radical and oppressor.

It is immoral, sure... and? Lots of immoral games out there, always been, always will.
