But I'm curious why your ship is not deployed and sailing at full speed towards the area, or if not, C(or perhaps it is, you tell me).
My ship is a destroyer, with a crew of three hundred, with the ability to house maybe 20 extra. We have two medical personel, no doctor. If they need us to shoot down Iranian jets, we would be happy to oblige. We would just be in the way.

We are also in the ship yard.

But like I said, we did send two amphibs loaded with food.

perhaps it is, you tell me.
    I already told you why.

Incidently, the entire populations of nearby Jackson and Little Rock were NOT conscripted and sent to NO to stand around doing nothing. Again, Bush's fault.

Honestly, Patroklos, with the way that you're saying things, it most certainly does sound like you're downplaying everything, as if these are no more than a small shame.
What exactly does me thinking the level of response being at a reasobable level have to do with my impresion of the actual disaster.

And again, I am after the truth. I happen to believ 80% of NO being under 5-8' of water to be a huge disaster. I don't need a reporter to tell me "The city of NO is completey drowned" to trigger my OH **** response.

Maybe some of you need exageration to trigger yours.

I'm not the one saying anything here is Bush's fault. The Iraq war surely was, but this crisis isn't ,for reasons I already posted . I believe the agencies and military leaders have authority to make the calls themselves, so the president is not to blame, tell me if I'm wrong.

But in times like this, you need every swinging d!ck to give a hand. If a significant number of people are standing around rolling thumbs, the chain of command has failed.

I'm curious. How many troll threads do we need on a single topic saying almost the same thing before the mods choose one to be the official troll thread?

Would he be elected if this happened at the same date last year? (that is a topic for a thread of it's own, but there are enough threads already...)

At least his thread has a civilised discussion going on

No, it is the nature of the disaster.

It's not in your reaction, it's int he way you're presenting yourself. Appearances mean more than actions, which is a shame--but that's why we keep electing putzes into office.

I'm sorry, this just offends me. If he'd stopped at the "fantastic Gulf Coast" bit, I'd've been fine, but talking about Trent Lott losing his house (probably some mansion) while people are still dying? Jeebus, where are this man's scriptwriters?

Somehow I don't belive that. Surely the disaster is beyond anything seen in ages in that part of the world, but for the military involvement in the rescue operations, I'm sure there are 1000's of officers who would shout both #£&§ and *$@½ to their men to get orders executed, and not hesitate to tell their superiors that they need rubber boats/helicopters/humvees NOW!

Just when I was starting to get liberal outrage fatigue...

Bush has totally FUBARed this whole week. I dont think ANYONE down here disagrees with me.

I posted this elsewhere, but I think that this may be a better thread for it... it's probably old news by now anyway...

Did anyone just see Kanye West on the NBC telethon? He was with Mike Meyers. He was shaking, giving rambling, racially charged speech, then blurted out "George Bush doesn't care about black people!" NBC hurriedly cut off to some other guy. Mike Meyers looked incredibly uncomfortable. One of the most hillarious things I have ever seen on live t.v.
