Yeah, but I think making sure you get all the folks safely inside is more important than searching everyone. If someone tries to start trouble, they can deal with that person then and there rather than holding up the entire line. Having been to New Orleans I can say that searching people for weapons isn't a bad idea. It's a very dangerous town.

You'd be suprised how many people think anytime and anyplace is a good time and place to bring weapons. Further, the people bringing this stuff in might not mean to use them, but someone around them might decide to take those items and use them for themselves.
