you need to do your part to raise that up to 60-70 million Democrats.

And don't worry about us screwing up the universe, at the end of the day its either going to crunch back into a pin-***** or die a heat death, and everything we have accomplished will matter for naught(unless of course we prevent the above occurences, in which case, sucks to be the universe).

Jury duty is an interesting change of pace. By virtue of being the capital and having lots of street crime, in DC we serve one day/one case as a petit juror every two years and less periodically as grand jurors.

It's no big hassle and gives you a glimpse into how the law works and trials are held in real life. I'm positive toward jury duty and I've probably served more than all you lot.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

it´s because of lazy people like you that your country is filled with dirt that manage to stay out of prison after some idiot jury took an even more idiot decision
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

                    Agreed.

Jury duty is a a very strong manifestation of power to the people, something I'd think you would approve of and gladly take part in as a part of being a citizen of the United States of America. Judging from your attitude thus far, though, that seems not to be the case.

That's why I sit at home all day. In the short term, I've decided not to commit suicide. Particulary because my father's health is not so good and I don't want to upset him (or my mother). But nevertheless... I am going to commit suicide. Probably shortly after my father passes.

I'm going to isolate myself. Other than my immediate family, and a few other relatives; not many people care about me. And I want it that way. That way, when I'm gone, it won't hurt that many people.

I'm not going to have children. Sure, I'd like to. But I am not going to. IMO, it would be cruel to bring a child into this world.

And I'm not going to waste my time stuck in some sort of dillusional mindset (also known as 'hope') with the notion that I can affect some sort of change.
You do realize that this really only means one thing: I will ultimately win. My opinions, morals, values and genes are going to continue probably till the end of the 21 century. Most likely they will carry on way past that. Yours, appearently, will end with you. My side will win as there would be no oposition.

But, you know what Sava? I don't want to win. Not this way.

I wish I could serve on a jury, looks like fun

You do realize, sava, that they would pay you for your day? If you are unemployed, then you could at least turn the money around and possibly score some weed from the defendant after court.

Is Sava really the sort of person we would want on a jury?

mmmmm it doesn't quite work that way...

forgive me, but I don't recall your personal values and opinions that well...

but if I may generalize, I am quite confident that in 100 years time, the power of science and reason will be stronger and the power of religion will be weaker

but alas, I don't care... and even if I weren't depressed, I still wouldn't care. Because once I'm dead... I'm gone. It doesn't matter whose values are stronger or more popular. Hell, eventually the sun will turn into a red giant and consume the earth... and if humanity does not find a way to expand beyond the solar system, it will die. and eventually the universe will collapse into itself.

in the long run, we're all dead

plus I don't need money... I don't buy lots of things. I've got my PC, my internet connection, usenet subscription, a credit card, and some money saved up. I have just a small balance on my credit card. That's about it.

My dad and I share a car. But I don't go anywhere. I'm not real big on material things.

my cat, my pc, my plants, and my library of downloaded pr0n, games and movies is all I need in life.

I'd like sex, but it's not worth the trouble.
