Micronations - just another elaborate tax dodge
“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

I believe he means the whole concept of getting together with other individuals and creating virtual countries, whose "public forum" *ahem* is an internet forum. These people form 'countries' or become citizens of these 'countries' and get assigned positions in the 'government' in which they deal with other 'countries'.

The only physical basis of micronations are the servers the webpages are on and the location of the people... if they actually do exist.

Did poly have a micronation at one point?

          And where is Micronesia?

Micronesia is very real and spread across a couple of thousand square miles of the Pacific. It is noted for its lack of internet geeks, and its proliferation of busty Polynesian lasses.

I keep scrolling down the page to see Scarlet Johansson and Robin Cook. Imagine if they'd bred......

They could have launched a little army of little ginger retarded-looking goblins.

What baffles me about micronations it that I'm never quite sure how much of it is relatively harmless though quite, quite geeky fun-having and how much of it is complete, utter insanity. Which makes it akin to a lot of activities in the Internet, really.

The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency

He's the incarnation of EC's entry on cynic.

In other news, Laz is probably quite Aspy himself.

Aspie's have difficulty expressing emotions and forming attachments, but they're not as screwed up as Autistic kids. They have relatively normal intelligence, speech, and impulse control.

As does the difficulty expressing emotions. Ever read one of my "seriously pissed off" threads?

                                Any.....Micronations.

Sealand isn't the sort of thing I'm after, though it is amusingly barmy. It's the ones that get spontaneously created on the interweb by a bunch of kids who immediately become "Duke of Flatularia" or "Grand Commander of Faveringhaughmingtonshire".

It strikes me as being role-play for people too scared by the limitless powers of their own imaginations. People who'd rather play in the sandpit with a comforting backdrop of petty bureaucracy to cosset them. What do these people get out of the experience?
