Please explain Canada being high up the list of targets.
I am not aware that Canada was attacked by Islamic terrorists. Please cite.

Al-Jazeera broadcasts tape said to be bin Laden
Last Updated Wed, 13 Nov 2002 9:50:43
WASHINGTON - Al-Jazeera television in the Middle East is broadcasting an audio tape of a man whom the network identifies as Osama bin Laden.
On the tape which was first aired Tuesday afternoon, the speaker praises recent attacks on Westerners in Bali, Kuwait, Yemen and Jordan, as well as the recent hostage taking in Moscow.
"The latest action in Moscow is only a response to what is happening to all Muslim brothers around the world."
The speaker says the attacks are a response to what U.S. President Bush is doing by "killing our sons, our old people and children by American planes in Palestine." The speaker says the attacks in Bali and elsewhere are a response to U.S. actions in the Middle East.
"Our people in Palestine are being killed, are being subjected to the worst kind of suffering for almost a century now," said the speaker. "If we defend our people in Palestine the world is disturbed and allied against Muslims under the banner of combating terrorism."
The speaker also warns the U.S. and its allies they will face more attacks.
"This is in response to what is happening to our brothers in Palestine who are being killed every day. So we are issuing a warning to citizens of countries allied with the United States."
Six countries are singled out as targets of al-Qaeda: Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Australia and Canada. Each country is accused of supporting "the White House gang of butchers."
Al-Jazeera has broadcast several audio recordings of bin Laden over the past year. The last video tape of the al-Qaeda leader was believed to have been recorded last November, soon after the U.S. attack on Afghanistan began.
There has been no confirmation of the authenticity of the recording by Western intelligence experts, but if authenticated the audiotape would prove bin Laden is alive, or was until very recently.
U.S. intelligence experts are working to determine whether the tape is authentic, but some officials say it sounds like the voice of bin Laden.

We remain one of the only targets not hit.
If I'm not mistaken, this had nothing to do with Iraq.

IIRC the only country on the list that has been hit is the UK.
Foreign policy is much broader than just Iraq. Iraq is just the most recent - and most bloody after Vietnam.

We are discussing about two issues: islamists in western societies and people of muslim religion supporting terrorism acts. Knowing more about flemish weavers or chinese sailors has hardly any kind or relevance to this topic. Or do you just want someone to tell you how good your history knowledge is?
He lives there! And his opinion isn't less important just because he's not a polish farmer living in the middle-ages
Oh- I had thought we were discussing a Tory m.p.'s comments on multiculturalism, and given that this is the United Kingdom, which has a certain kind of history with regard to immigration and people of different cultures, ethnicities and religions coming to settle here, I did somehow think that the history of immigration into the United Kingdom might somehow be relevant.
Also- I didn't say his comment was less important than anyone else's, did I ?
I questioned his claim to speak for 'the people'- whoever that vague groupuscule are meant to be this day of the week in his mind.
I suggest you read his posts, and mine, more carefully- and take a chill pill while you're at it.

You know molly, for such an incredibly smart guy, your reading comprehension is really poor.
I don't know which is funnier, the fact that you use the Thread title as proof to it's content, or the fact that you might actually believe that argument.

Cort Haus' post on page 6
OK, but what the current multicultural strategy gives us is a myriad more 'micronationalisms'
Park Avenue, same page:
Yes, after all, we only housed them, and kept them on benefit for decades until they decided to attack us for our errors...
'We' housed 'them'. Where did the 'them' come from ? And what is it that distinguishes the 'thems' that come here, from 'us' and each other ?

You lose the argument automatically since you use less than 50 posts per page. In anyway, there are a myriad of topics which are interconnected in this area, and they are all fair play, really.
And what is it that distinguishes the 'thems' that come here, from 'us' and each other ?
What about this?

Them are the people that bombed us and those who fail to criticise their actions.
