Magically, no. It's called science. Just don't buy your condoms at the dollar store and you should be fine.

You be damned, you heretic It's Asimov !!!

They are so "new" that the worst technical blunders of the first three are not repeated. And yes, the stories are also good

I think that the practical rate is less than the theoretical rate. Studies in the 1980s indicated that their real world efficacy was 50% - over a long period of time they reduced the expected pregnancy rate by 50%. You have to include breakage and slippage in the figure.

Both of these families are on pretty limited incomes--the pay for being an Arkansas state senator is around $14,000 a session, and one of them (Holt or Duggars) doesn't have another job. I'm sure the wife pitches in but either way they're both saving every last penny as I understand things.

And they should be. You thought paying college for one kid was bad...
once you get to a certain poorness (like I was) it is actually really easy to go to college

because you can give governmental loans and aid for everything

it is once you start making a little money (like combined income of ~60k) that it starts getting very hard

Sorry, I don't agree. I found the last two books to be a major disappointment

Oh, and Kenobi, your abortion remark isn't even remotely funny...

Did Azimov write them or did he have 'help'. It bugs me when some no talent bum writes the sequels and they slap the original writer's name on it like he did something besides get a fat check.

Rama or it's sequals were like that.

                  Is Azimov still kicking?

He died a couple of years ago And AFAIK he did write the sequels himself.

I thought the first three was pretty awful until I found out when they were written - Clarke is much better in making technique belivable where Azimov are better at society

Anyway - I would kill for a computer like that one Trevize has in F & E

Edit : Yes, Asimov wrote them himself.

If you are talking about Europe, that is wrong. They are in decline now. I saw a talk show about 3 weeks ago were one of the guess who wrote a book about this, and said France for one is big trouble now, in that by 2050 or so, there could be 40 to 45% Arab pop. and they could take over the country through the ballot box.

The problem with pop growth is not with the so call white pop., it is with the latino, Indian, Chinese, and Arabs.

The latino pop. in Calif. is now at 38%, by 2050 they may be at 40 to 45%. Then they will be the largest in Calif. They then will have the power run Calif.

This is not a bad thing. People still shouldn't be having any more than one child.

                              • There are actually more latino babies born then white babies in the state though neither has a majority since there are other ethnic minorities (Asians, blacks, native Americans, South Asians, middleeasterns, etc). As long as people continue to assimilate then there shouldn't be to many problems.
