Thank god most of us can agree though, that consistency =! legitimacy/positive good.

So that's why only millions of people around the world have mourned the death of the previous pope -- because no one listens to popes anymore.

But of course. I disagree with the Pope's premise, but I respect his consistency. The American Religious Right has no such consistency when it comes to sexual matters so long as it's within the marriage. Apparently sodomizing your wife in her sleep is perfectly acceptable, as is forcing your wife to go to a swinger's club.

I mourned the Pope. I thought he was a legitimate good man, one of the few in the world. That does not mean I listened to him.

            And I'm a confirmed catholic, just a non-practicing one

The Pope, who was elected in April, also condemned divorce, artificial birth control, trial marriages and free-style unions, saying all of these practices were dangerous for the family.

Wow, he's really aiming for the popular vote, isn't he.
A real pitty he choose catholicism 'cuz he'd make a damn good ayatollah.

Pope Benedict, in his first clear pronouncement on gay marriages since his election, on Monday condemned same-sex unions as fake and expressions of "anarchic freedom" that threatened the future of the family.
If marrying a toad (the kind you lick to get high ) threatens the pope's family, methinks the pope is the threat. Oops, he ain't got a wife and kids. If everyone did as the pope there wouldn't be families, so isn't he a threat?

"Today's various forms of dissolution of marriage, free unions, trial marriages as well as the pseudo-matrimonies between people of the same sex are instead expressions of anarchic freedom which falsely tries to pass itself off as the true liberation of man," he said.
Yes, bow before the Church and you will truly be free!

                      These people crack me up...

Opinion. I did not agree with almost anything he said, and that played a major role in causing me to leave the church, but I still respected him. A bit conflicted, really, but such is religion in all men.

                              Gay-Marraige = Anarchy - The Pope

                              From this, we can derive:

Gay + The Pope = Marriage + Anarchy.
