Just be grateful you're not black, you'll get the benefit of institutionalised racism in the police force too. The stories I've heard from colleagues of mine...

So I wasn't really suprised when the pigs pulled me over, demanded to see my ID, and know what was in my backpack (a kitty litter box, in case you're wondering) as I left the Publix. There were, like, twenty pigs in black and armor on bikes. Apparently, they were afraid that the anarchists were going to attack Publix (but not Winn-Dixie across the street).

You see, I had unwittingly stumbled into a meeting of the OAS, which is going on right down the street, and I only found out about on the way home from the airport. I guess my neighborhood's not so bad after all.

Still, I'm one out-of-shape commie, surrounded by twenty pigs who were very much in shape. So I was a good German, and showed them my ID and let them look in my pack.
that's bull****. I never carry ID if I"m not driving. **** the police.

There's no law that say you have to carry ID.

I shouldn't have to prove who the **** I am to exist in this ****ing world. **** the goverment, **** the police, **** the politicians, and **** anyone who thinks I have to carry around and ID.

for some reasin Che's little story has really pissed me off.

Well Az, you do live in the Israeli Police state, so your comments are understandable since many people there are harassed in that same way. But in the United States, some might argue that only the 'darker complextioned' people or 'hippie-haired' are harassed by the police, and such harassment is not as common since it doesn't need to be because of less threats of terrorism, etc.

I don't live in a state under seige, even one that has comparatively few murders when compared to a U.S. city.

Doesn't have anything to do with it ( though you sorta answered yourself in that post). I just fail to see the supposed freedom in not getting your bag checked, or carrying a small piece of plastic all of you get you panties in a twist about.

because I shouldn't have to prove who I am to exist in this world. doesn't that make sense?

It should be a human right to have the right to exist.

The very fact that they are asking for an ID mean they suspect you are guilty and you have to prove yourself innocent. Which is complete bull****.

We are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty.

**** this country, I'm going to overthrow the goverment. This is not what our founding fathers intended.

I should be able to wear what I want (as long as I'm not nude) and go to the store without being harrassed by the police.

exactly. It's like they assume you are guilty, and you have to prove your innocence.

I agree, but that's not what the police stopped you because. It's not a punishment for a crime.

and go to the store without being harrassed by the police.

And the harassement is.... show card, let look in bag.

We have a right to privacy in this country, or at least we did have.

I just can't believe you don't see how that is wrong.

It's called privacy. What if he just bought a 16 inch dildo. You think he wants the police to see that?

I completely agree with Diss and Che here. This country is going down that road of authoritarianism with the threat of the introduction of the ID card scheme (at great cost may I add). I think it is an infringement of civil liberties and will oppose it!
