I have no ethical issues with grown adults working as prostitutes.

I think, however, it points to a social problem. It appears these people don't have better means of making a living, so they resort to selling their bodies as a result.

      Sometimes their society encourages it.

In Canada, you can be charged for sex crimes in another country (such as sex with a minor). A resisdent of BC was recently charged under this law.

What about the nutcases who go around killing prostitutes?

I'm all for a well-regulated prostitution industry in the U.S. Indeed, that would protect them from exploitation and such murderous nutcases.

I didn't hit it with any of these chicks.

Still, the Costa Rican population is very white. It seems the Conquistidores killed off most of the natives so the population is something like 80% white, 10% native/mestisto, and 10% black. The blacks almost all live on the east coast where the English started some slave plantations in the early 1700's before the Spanish retook the coastal areas from the English. Most of the people have brown hair and brown eyes but about 1/3 seemed to have blue eyes and a good number had natural blond hair.

Most of the chicks were so hittable.

I believe the US has a similiar law but I don't recall anyone ever being charged with it. Since these sex tour operators don't seem to have trouble locating clients (there were bus loads of fat, bald, 50 year old men from western countries who seemed to be on organized sex tours) I imagine it wouldn't be hard for the government to find out more info if they tried.

The whole male power thing is a teriible cliche but there is some truth in it....the feeling of paying someone to do whatever you want and having them completely under your control is a million miles away from jerking off.
contrary to popular belief, prostitutes aren't slaves. In fact, in most cases (at least in Las Vegas), the prostitute is the one who dictates the conditions. They won't even touch you unless you use a condom. Granted, the man could always rape her, that's a chance every girl takes. And they won't let you kiss them. There's all kinds of rules they set.

hmm, it sounds like I use them don't I? Like I've said, I have been in a whorehouse before. But I don't want people to think I'm one of those unsaviory types who go to prostitutes. As I've said earlier, I'd rather use my hand. An orgasm is an orgasm, I can't tell the difference. There's also a couple websites I browse. Even though I don't use prostitutes, I find the whole culture fascinating. You can go to world sex guide and read their forums. It's astounding what these guys would do for a hooker. They go through all this trouble to find a street hooker. I think it would be easier just to find a girlfriend. Because in my city, finding street hookers (at least ones that don't charge exhorbant fees on the strip), is a challenge. It may take you hours to find one.

And believe it or not, all the years I've lived in Las Vegas I have never seen a hooker. At least not one I knew for sure was a hooker. So many women dress like sluts, it's really hard to tell the difference.

I have a problem with prostitution, even where it supposedly involves mutual consent of two adults.

The reason is that prostituion is inherently sexist in which "customers" are predominantly male seeking the "service" of preomdinantly females. It's an unequal system, in which male "customers" can take advantage of the fact that most female prostitutes are impoverished.

I also believe the US recently enacted such a law. It would be hard to enforce. I believe they will arrest you here if you were arrested there. Costa Rica was used as an example.

Normally, women are the ones who push anti-prostitution laws in the first world. Maybe it's just the nature of third world countries that democracy isn't that well entrenched and therefore the women don't have their full say.

With regard to Costa Rica, I had a cabbie some years ago who (unasked) started talking about his sexcapades in Costa Rica. If the cabbie starts talking about it in suburban Maryland where I lived at the time, then the country is probably a very well known sex tourism destination.

There's a bit of street prostitution in the city of DC. I don't like it one bit. It decreases property values and makes the neighborhood feel less safe and family-friendly besides.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I've heard stories similar to Costa Rica in the Honduras and Panama. Maybe its a regional issue.
