That's ****ing insane. We are a nation that sees ****ing donkeys get more charitable funding than mentally handicapped children, and now we see a rich leafy village applying for charity funds to play footie-wootie with because their existing facilities are a bit ****ing shabby?!

Where's my petrol?! Where are my matches?! Their facilities will burn this very night, and with any luck the players wikll still be in them. Cheeky ****ers.

However, Laz, if the following is true, I think there's a problem in Britain:

Then they applied for support from the National Lottery and went successfully through all the rounds bar one, falling at the final hurdle. They were 'disqualified' because - wait for it - there was not sufficient "ethnic community mix" in the village.

Where's all the right wingers with their, "It's a private group, they can do what they like!" attitude?

(NB I know it's the "state" lottery, but that seems to extend to that they give a cut to the government, as opposed to British taxpayer money going to the company)

It doesnt seem right. Positive discrimination isnt any better than negative. A few people are having a birthday with it because they are are either anti-minorities or pro-minorities but either way there can be no excuse for discrimination.

The Lottery has been known for some time to distribute its funds to 'dubious' causes and this is probably no exception.

There is probably people high up in the ranks that see it as a political victory, but how can it be? all it will seek to do is further widen any racial divide that was present in that region.

No. It's merely another race thread by Caligastia, just like all those other race threads he's posted.

Has it occurred to any of the clueless foreigners posting here that the grants committee used the ethnic consideration simply because it was more convenient than using the more accurate response "No grants to cheeky buggers"?

You see, there have been a number of grants I know of to community projects in Cornwall, which has to be the whitest county in England. The difference is the Cornwall is a poor county, whereas Cuddington is not. As ever, we've got too many Poly kneejerkers with a complete inability to read between the lines.

What's wrong with that and how is it right wing?

The only reason why it wouldn't fit here is because that group is not private.

Is it bad form to say "you're too rich, no charity for you" in Britain?

this is a very bad example, but i guess the point is about having race or ethnicity as a criteria for dishing out lottery funds.

a better example would have been the lifeboat charities who were denied funding because they didn't save enough 'non-whites or asylum seekers'.
