Would you care to explain why?

maybe you met tom of finland!

You are welcome, but I don't think you would like it in here. Then again, most say this is an exotic place, I just feel this is a boring place. Maybe you would find this exciting. Exciting at least in a way that I bet you'll get in trouble in night life if you don't have someone to back you up The exotic drunks! ****ing idiots.. I feel like fighting right now! But only bad people. I like good people.

One thing you should do though.. if you ever come here to visit and see places, what you really need to do is try to get in with the natives for the midsummers day, someone who takes you to their cabin for 3 day drinking orgy festival. Bring your own knives! No it's actually quite fun.

Yeah, I'm sure you ethnically cleansed everyone who wasn't 100% Greek and could prove their ancestors had lived there since the time of Plato.

The Byzantine Emperors settled many Slavs in their lands, including Macedonia and Thessaly. Epirus was settled with Albanians and so was the Morea. Hell, if it hadn't been for the Ottomans, the Greeks probably would have become a minority in the whole of Greece. Only the islands would have remained Greek.

            German all

There might be Jewish influence at some point, but the official facts speak against it. The name Rosenbusch just has a very special ring to it

It most certainly is. There are genetic markers which occur much more frequenly among Jews than other groups, including Black Jews.

Plus, as Az notes, there are many atheist Jews.

Modern Greeks are 50% Turks and 50% Slavs, that's a proven fact. The ancient Greeks have been dying out since the 14th century.

Jewish is also an ethnicity. The Jews of Europe were / are not just Europeans who adopted a certain religion (unlike khazars) and then decided to collectively change their phenotypical characteristics. Guess where the word diaspora in your language comes from, if you have ever heard of it.

che you read some stuff in some book and all of the sudden you proclaim yourself the expert on all things.
you dont know half of it and what you know as i have noticed are hugely a miss. you probably never even been to greece.
and you dont know about the arvanites or the vlachoi or whatever who they are, how they are integrated or not in greek society, the history of each part ofthis country.
you're easily discussing about things you only glimpsed at a conotation and when i talk about it, and i know far more than you'd ever know about it, you jump on the "nationalist" wagon.
                        so once again

you're too simplistic and i have too few time

i think we're long overdue a flamewar about the ethnic origins of modern 'greeks'.

Half of my father's side is partly autochthonous of western Styria - at least we wouldn't know of anything else), the other half came from Bavaria, probably in the 18th century (they were beer brewers until the 1920s, mind you!)
On my mom's side, it's typical K&K Austrian mixed blend - a bit "German" Austrian, Bohemian, Hungarian, Slovenian, Gotschee-Slovenian (a specific German Slovenian minority), ...
"Unfortunately" there were no documents to trace the Aryan ancestry of my great grandfather a step further than necessary. Those baptismal documents were mysteriously lost. I wonder whether this had really been a coincidence or if there is also Jewish ancestry on this side.
"The world is too small in Vorarlberg". Austrian ex-vice-chancellor Hubert Gorbach in a letter to Alistar [sic] Darling, looking for a job...

There's no such things as Greeks, only Greek speaking Turks.
