Why, in the name of the Senate, did George Lucas think it was a good idea to spend 40 minutes on the actions of the boring General Grievous, but only 10 seconds in turning Annikin Skywalker into Darth Vader? Inexplicable.
The opening sequence would have been a lot better with less R2-D2, less exciting elevator action and with a nice Star Wars style wipe to close out the scene right after Skywalker releases Palpatine from captivity. Ditch Grievous and get rid of the cliched, boring crash scene. Just cut right to Annikin getting a medal from the Chancellor.
If you are going to put 5 saber duels in your picture, could you let us see some of them? Why make everything a close-up that prevents you from seeing the swordplay?

And WTF did Palpatine keep throwing the lightning at Windu even though Windu was reflecting it back at him ? Couldn't he have waited , let Windu raise his saber , and them stuck him while the lightsaber was up and could not protect him ?
Um... the whole point was to turn Anakin. He could have beaten Windu easily if he wanted, but he needed that apprentice.
if he was that good , how come he couldn't take out Windu ?
Look above... though I think part of that is that Windu brought the red shirt Jedi's to arrest Palpatine by mistake .“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Sith are supposed to be self-serving . How does risking your life just so that you may get an apprentince self-serving ? It sounds suspiciously like thay are serving the dark side , and not themselves ( like the Jedi serve the lidht side , and not themselves ) . It seems too . . . . . . . . . selfless .
And why not take a strike force of many many Jedi , so that there is no chance that Plapatine could escape ? Sith Lords are supposed to be very powerful , so why take chances ?

Are you kidding me? Did you see the movie? What happens after Anakin cuts off Windu's arm? It seemed to me that any 'risking his life' Palpatine did was a ruse. He was absolutely fine after Anakin turned and showed absolute no ill effects.
I didn't see him start limping or showing any pain afterwards.

By this time the Jedi are very arrogant and don't think they need more than 4 or 5. Also Palpatine is the strongest Sith Lord in years and they had no idea.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The whole Grievous thing is part of the clone wars... you need to watch the cartoons that are called "clone wars"..
They end right where ROTS starts.
Still I think I would have made the story totally different... I don't know anymore but I had this wonderful idea about a good story right after I woke up today... now I can't remember anymore... ****

The fact was that Palpatine showed absolutely NO ill effects from the battle and gained his apprentice. That was his end goal. He got the most powerful Jedi and could begin his take over.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. They could have come up with a better term than younglings. My other real complaint was that Grievous was just a goofy loser, but then, I didn't really expect much out of him. Christiansen was much better than in the last one, though not great by any stretch.
The Death Star thing didn't bother me, since a first-ever project of that size is going to be beset with little gotcha's and quirks that cost a lot of time, not to mention the revelation after the fact of many ways to streamline the process. The second time around would go much quicker. Plus, I agree with whoever said Palpatine would have already had it underway.
Did anybody else find Palpatine's incessant cackling to be a bit distracting and cartoonish?
All in all, not bad, but far from perfect.

Oh, with regards to Grievous, I recommend watching the Clone Wars cartoon. He's quite a badass in those. Obi-Wan comes out to be a great lightsaber warrior in the battle with Grievous if you saw what he is able to do in the cartoon.

Exactly. The first model ALWAYS takes longer due to unforseen things.
Though the best part of that scene was a young Grand Moff Tarkin on the bridge. That guy looked incredibly like a young Cushing.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Grievous had the worst line of the whole movie, too: "You fool! Count Dooku has..." The way they yo-yoed him from supposed badass to lost minion, unable to continue, or even envision continuing, without Dooku was pathetic.
While they did ramp Obi-Wan's stature and skill up greatly from the first two, in what seemed a little like an "Uh oh, we've only got one movie left to turn him into the great Ben Kenobi" panic, I've always been under the impression that to properly wield a lightsaber required a good bit of help from the Force. Not that accomplished swordsmen couldn't do as well with it as other blades, but that because of the Force aspect, a good Jedi would be head and shoulders above the best swordsman with it. In that light, I expected Kenobi to outduel Grievous, since we never have any indication that Grievous is force-sensitive.

OK. I saw it. 27 years after my Dad took me to see the first one.
Unquestionably the best of the last three films, which exposes what was wrong with them. There really wasn't enough material to make three films, and ROTS was crap for the first half. The second half saved it.
Terrible dialogue for much of the film. Also the desire to have "incredible" stunts makes it look a bit silly. They should have stuck with the level of stunts in the original three films.
All New Zealanders will be guffawing throughout the whole movie at the millions of Temuera Morrison Stormtroopers. The Maoris get a big kick out of taking over the galaxy.
But worth ten dollars.Only feebs vote.

I saw it a couple of hours ago, and it's starting to sink in a little now. It's a lot of story and action to take in, I think. My initial reaction is that I think it was overly "violent" (bad choice of word, but it's the best I have; I would like it to be taken in the meaning of dramatic/vehement - I think it comes on much too strong for my tastes). And I certainly wouldn't send an 11-year old to see it, as was the age limit it got here. No 11 year old should watch this movie, not unaccompanied anyway.
Also IMO some of the fighting scenes dragged on too long, especially towards the end. Nothing much seemed to happen in those scenes beyond endless sword fighting. Why did they have to last for 5 minutes each time.
My biggest beef with consistency/credibility is that Padme dies immediately after the twins are born. I distincly remember from Ep. VI RotJ that Luke asks Leia if she has any memories of her mother, her real mother, and Leia says something like "she was beautiful and very caring, but I don't remember much else, she died when I was very young". That just doesn't add up.
It still was an impressive movie, I'll agree to that, and of course a must-see if you're into Star Wars, but I'm still left with the overall feeling of it being little more than the necessary "filler" episode.
