Well, there are other people with these feelings. I used to have them long, long ago. How about a group therapy thing? Get with people who can understand what you're dealing with on a direct basis?

My solution was praying to God. Changed me in an instant. Well, it changed my feelings of depression and hopelessness, I'm taking alot longer to come around. Been a process...

I've tried therapy on and off for 4/5 years now, didn't find it much use to be honest. As for God - I actually tried this as a last dich attempt, but it didn't work.

Thankyou for your concern, really, but I seem to have tried and failed every kind of help going. Have my own psychiatric nurse now, woohoo, and the 24 hr help of something amusingly called the 'crisis team'

One good thing about an actual physical condition is that it really does put all the psychological crap into perspective a bit. At least for a while.

I tried quite a few times before God anwered. I think the problem may have been my pride, but I don't know. Might have been a communication mishap.

Good, I can tell you there's alot to live for later in life. The pressures of youth and the changes in the body from childhood to adult can be a profound pain in the ass. These things get better with time...

There's alot to feel good about, once you can feel good about anything. "This too shall pass' was said by a very wise person with no permanant problems like you and I have. Alot of truth in it though.

I have no advice, but I'm sorry to hear of the situation.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I suggest moving someplace sunny. Since coming here, I've discovered I'm solar powered. I will never move back north. The grey and lack of sun would kill me, in that my depression would come roaring back.

                  Re: Verres can't drink

I too have little in the way of advice. I'll just say this: Please don't kill yourself. You sound like a very kind and intelligent person online, and I remember seeing a picture of you, you also look very good .

DON'T WASTE IT. I must admit I know little of your troubles, but I honestly think that since I've seen people, my friends go through the most difficult times, physically and mentally, and succeed in the end, It's just a waste - if they could do it, everyone can . You hate the way things are going in every possible meaning of the word? just start over. Don't quit. You are still very young. You've got everything in front of you.

Verres, you're also a comrade. The world has too few of us as it is. Every one of us is precious. Don't do the capitalists any favors.

If you have honestly given theropy a real chance and haven't just been going through the motions then you could try the American approach of better living through chemistry. I understand there are a great many different anti-depressents on the market and different people respond differently to different combinations of different drugs. That means if you've tried medical drugs in the past and found they didn't work for you then it might just be that you haven't found the correct combination for your medical condition.

A trained specialist might be able to help you figure out which ones are right for your body and your needs.

An interesting link I just ran across about the link between Type 2 Diabetes (the type found in young adults) and depression. Since you mentioned both depression and diabetes I thought this article might interet you.

Also do you like music? If so I suggest you pick up The Flamming Lips: Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots as that CD is like lyrical happiness. It's great stuff.

If medication isn't working or religion, or therapy it is unlikely that you have a problem in the sense that there's something wrong with you. Try philosophy instead – Epictetus is a good start.
