    Liverpool Scored 3

    Premiership
    Chelsea 1 - 0 Liverpool
    Liverpool 0 - 1 Chelsea

For carrying the ball and passing though, he is one of the best.

You ever watched Chelsea? If you did you'd know that Robben and Duff are basically forwards too, just wide ones.

Those arent the only traits you need to play DM or CM effectively though. You need to get up and down the field, especially CM, pressing for the ball in DM.

As i said, he doesnt have the traits now to play DM or CM.

By the way the new thread should definitely be FOOTBALL, UR can ban anyone that cant read.

            • zidane is a totally different type of player to makalele, anyone who's seen them play can see that.

yeah i watch chelsea. i know how the system works. unfortunately many times, robben and duff cannot get up the field fast enough. the ball always runs faster then a player and you need someone up there to play with the striker when you play a fast offensive style.

and with five midfielders, the opposing team can play the ball up one side consistenly and keep that midfielder constantly on defense and take him out of the game (just look at gerrard in the champions league final, he played defense for much of the match)

so in other words the richest club in the league, a club where money is no object, loses to a club who has spend millions less, in the champions league when it matters the most because they didnt have good enough strikers.

Sort of, but not always. Zidane seems like a CM who focuses more on the attack (when he plays CM).

Makalele is a DM through and through.

Souness got good value out of him in the transfer market.

                        • Yep... it's amazing how careers that start out with such promise can go to **** so quickly. Though it happens a good deal with clubhouse cancers.

Oh, in other Prem news, the Hotspur sign Robinson to a deal that ends in 2010.

                          • It was never in doubt that he'd sign, he loves the club. Strange though that it ends in 2010 when its a 7 year contract.

Your previous point was that their system was bad, now it's that their strikers weren't good enough? Well yeah, they don't have a really world class striker like you'd expect from a top team. That's a totally different point though.

And you have probably noticed the stories linking Chelsea with just about every striker in the world?

If you look over the last 10 years Chelsea's total spending isn't much higher than Liverpools.

Anyone can lose in a knockout competition. Liverpool defended for the whole of both matches and barely mounted an attack, it was extremely negative.

Chelsea'd have won if Robben was fit - FACT!

well yeah, I think they got hand in hand. Drogba isnt good enough to play up front all alone against the entire defense of another team, and this is because the system doesnt allow him to have someone up there to spread them out. when you dont have a world class striker, then you must have a system that comspensates for that, and a must better team.

yeah on both, Chelsea was in the ****ter until Abrahamovich took over and started spending. They do have Crespo on loan, I would recall him as soon as possible (have them already, I know they were talking about it) if I was chelsea. The guy is a stud. and they got rid of Kezman.

however, THE SWISS LEAGUE IS ABOUT TO START UP AGAIN, but Servette, the newly bankrupt team, restarting in the first league, with all new players (mostly)

Will they challenege for the swiss cup? will they finish in the top two slots? probably not! but who cares? ill be getting discount tickets to their three year old stadium!
