    • Eh... he had a crappy tourney, but showed flashes of brilliance. The goal against Italy was set up by Adu and he made some great runs.

It wasn't like many people in the US team actually impressed.

Actually, I was impressed by pretty much the entire team... except Freddy. As a team, they didn't deserve to go out as early as they did, they played three excellent group matches (didn't see very much of the last game).

Barrett was probably the player of the tournament for the Americans, but I can see several of those players making it in Europe. For Freddy it's hard to tell though. He has talent but he plays like... a sixteen-year-old. He still has a helluvalot to learn. Only time will tell if he'll ever develop into a good player.

That's why it is an under 21 tournament

BTW, how did our boys do? I left the game at the end of the first half (Geena Davis ) when it was 1-0.
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
          Once again...

            Yes, so not U16.

3-0. Not a great match, but a deserved win with a few nice goals.

                    • Adu is the next Pele about 1/10th of his matches. The other matches he is a so-so player. That's why it's equally tough for the coaches to give him starts and to keep him out of the lineup.

I don't know what to make of that and he could be like that the rest of his career. But if you've watched a match where he's on his game, it's really entertaining in a way that the other players on the field are obviously incapable of doing.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Him and Lampard are too similar, I know money is no object to Chelsea but £35M is still a lot of money for a player you are going to alternate.

                          • If we could get £40M for him I'd sell him (abroad) in a shot!

It'd be £40m and we'd play them both. Where we'd have Tiago or Gudjohnson as the third midfielder last year we'd just have Gerrard the formation would be awesome:

                              Code:
                                            Cech
                              Ferreira Terry Carvalho Del Horno
                                           Makalele
                                       Gerrard Lampard
                               Duff Robben
                                         Drogba

                              Or whoever for Drogba.

Anyway our sights have switched to SWP now.
