AC Milan v. Chelsea only drew 39,000 last year in Philadelphia (about half full) and Chelsea v. AS Roma only drew 25,000 last year in Pittsburgh (about a third full). Maybe Chelsea's win in the premiership will get them to more respectable numbers like ManU v. AC Milan drawing 75,000 at Giants Stadium, which was probably 5,000 or so shy of a sell out.
I've never been to Fed Ex Field. I understand that it's pretty huge, since each fan has an individual seat. Our college football stadiums that hold so many have mostly benches, not individual seats, and therefore can fit more people in a smaller space.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Could be tricky finding 92,000 fans.

I'd be amazed if they got 92,000 for a friendly in London let alone New York. Mind you, must be a lot of ex-pat Brits who don't get to see real football and people of Italian descent in New York, and it's a big city but still.
In fact I'm pretty amazed that they pulled 39,000 in Phili.

Chelsea swoop for Swiss youngster
Chelsea are set to clinch the signature of rising Swiss star Jonas Elmer from Grasshopper Zurich.
The 17-year-old left-sided player was due to undergo a medical at Stamford Bridge today before agreeing personal terms on the switch.
Elmer, who will join the Blues on a three-year deal, is a highly-rated Switzerland under-17 international and was spotted by Chelsea scout Gwyn Williams during a scouting trip to watch a Spanish player.
He will join the Londoners as part of the reserve team set-up and continue his education while with Chelsea.
Although the Premiership champions have the funds of owner Roman Abramovich at their disposal, Mourinho has told the club he also wants to bring the world's best young talent to Stamford Bridge and Elmer represents the first move in this direction.
That policy will be strengthened yet further when Chelsea finally agree a compensation package for Tottenham's suspended sporting director Frank Arnesen.
Talks between to the two clubs are still continuing and may now revolve around the sale of reserve team striker Carlton Cole to Spurs as part of the settlement.
Switzerland is fast becoming a top hunting ground for English clubs with Arnesen having brought Reto Ziegler to Spurs last year and Arsenal ready to give Philippe Senderos a new deal at Highbury.
Now Elmer looks set to join the growing Swiss ranks in the Premiership by making the move from Grasshopper.
Another swiss soccer star going to england! We've got Senderos in Arsenal, Vogel at AC Milan, Frei at Rennes, Vonlanthen at Brescia (soon to be moving up tho, for sure)
Our world cup 2010 team is gonna be sick. full of young fast, fully developped players, both attacking and defending. even our euro 2008 team might go all the way.

Man, that team is going to be even more incredible this upcoming season.

Like youve got enough good swiss players to be choosy, who plays on the left, some cheese?
Thanks.

More good news for The Reds
Looks like we'll be seeded if we make it through to the group stage
The coefficients are really sh1t. It's ridiculous that Chelsea get to the semis twice in a row and aren't in the top seeds whilst "good for second place in the premiership team but have never done anything in Europe EVER" Arsenal are.
