find a source of saltpeter(pottasium nitrate)

See above. Potassium nitrate is not readily available in pure form. Don't be silly.

Wouldn't matter... anyone transported back would be dead in a year or so because of a disease that the modern world has wiped out therefore preventing you from building up an immunity to it.

Very few of those, Imran. If anything, we have immunity to a lot more diseases than ancient peoples did. The ones I can think of that modern populations have never been exposed to:

Smallpox would be a problem for the younger generation, but can be prevented by exposure to cowpox.

Cholera and diptheria can be avoided by boiling water

The black death only appears a few hundred years later than this. If anything, I'd be a saviour for telling people it was carried by the fleas of rats.

I have my tuberculosis shots, my shots for the childhood diseases, shots for meningitis and hep B, polio etc.

Maybe if you come back in 500 years enough of these will be ancient history that vaccination is no longer routine. Don't know.

Diptheria, scarlet fever, whooping cough, polio.

Medieval life was short, nasty and brutish.

Ah. Actually, I forgot that diphtheria is commonly vaccinated for as well.

Scarlet fever is not typically seen in adults, and is rarely fatal if the patient is not further weakened by other health issues.

If anything you'd be likely to kill a few million with your arrival...

Modern man is much tougher when it comes to disease than were any of his forebears.

Tetanus is a nasty one that can't ever be fully vaccinated against.

Neither can diphtheria, but some general knowledge of hygiene would go a long way. Likely you could live a lot longer than the average person.

He's being ridiculous. Nobody in the world could build a radio in the year 100 AD within the space of a single human lifetime.

You have such ambitions. I'd trade my iPod for women.
They'd kill you when your iPod went dead in twelve hours. My Zen would give me double that amount of time to make my escape.

                                @ KH

I already know the language spoken at this time at 100 AD. however, I'd like to know latin as well.
I am in a very precarious situation - my knowledge of chemistry is the only thing I've got going for me. well that, and the fact that I've got a rather large medical book, a tool set, and a dagger with me. I've also got some coins from my coin collection - but I doubt they are worth anything - plenty of pretty rubbish to sell to the natives, though - old calling cards, etc.

at 100AD, the situation in judea is ****ed. The only way is to go to Rome, and make a name for myself. ( and then kill a lot of people through desease )
