Anyways, my friend contacted the FBI and they basically told him that this happened on such a scale that they didn't have the manpower to pursue these scammers. This is a very low priority priority for the FBI, and he's screwed. So I guess whoever suggested moving to Nigeria and becoming a scammer had the best idea. :/Comment

However, he was the victim of a scam, no matter how very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very stupid he was getting involved with it. So I think he should have some legal grounds on which to not be held liable for the money (or all of it, anyway).

I especially like the story about the scammer who is made to fill a 64 pages long Cerrtificate conderning money laundry, which involves a lot of very personal questions (like "Do you urinate more than 10 times a day?" or "Does a premature ejaculation on your part trouble you?")
and afterwards is convinced to send someone to Scotland because he was made believe that he then receives the money

Here in China I have a naive American friend who was all set to fly to Africa to get a contract signed (similar scam, they usually jump the foreigner at the airport).
His Chinese boss nixed the deal. Chinese don't often fall for this sort of thing - hard to scam a scammer.
