May 16th, 3pm PST: PS3 Launches. May 16th, 6pm PST: Xbox2 Launches

I do not believe any of them will be dumb enough not to match the others' price.
With the specs Sony put out at E3, the PS3 will cost considerably more than Xbox 360 to make. Especially given all the connectivity ports and blue-ray...

Coming out months after the 360, and at a higher price..I'd love to see Sony do it

They can't sell things at a loss as much as MS did...
I bet they'll offer one like we saw at E3, for $499/$399.
A trimmed down one for $299...

That would be even worse, IMO; if they are wanting to push Blu-Ray into American households, then in my opinion they need to put it into every Playstation; otherwise, few people will fork out the extra 200 bucks for something they don't view themselves as needing.
Their original plan was to offer a game console for $299, and a media-center-plus-game-console for $399/$499 (ala the "PSX" in Japan last year).
MS is including that standard in their $299 console...
I bet Sony ain't pleased right now.

I wonder what will be necessary to get 5.1+ surround on the 360. With the Xbox right now, you have to buy an optic cable and the HDTV AV Pack, which I did only to learn my DVD player/receiver didnt have an optic port
I get sound through all my speakers, but supposedly it is not true 5.1
I still think MS should introduce it at $249. Get as many Live customers as possible shelling out a tenner or whatever every month. Get as many potential software buyers as possible out there.
To be honest, this does not look like an expensive box when all of the components are bought at massive bulk scale.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. That's rather superficial. You'd not buy a superior product because you don't like the name. Come on...
I didn't buy the original Xbox either, so it's more than that.
But yes, I hate Skateboarding and all those other "extreme" sports that much.

They lost about $5B on the Xbox(1) this generation.
I very much doubt they'll intentionally take a huge loss on the next generation console as well. They've made huge inroads, they don't need to lose as much now.

If they're losing money at a $250 price point this time around, then they have a failed design anyway.

Nonsense, the price will come down over time. It's normal to lose money on the console in the first year or two.
This time they own all of the IP (blueprints) for the chips. They can consolidate them on the 65nm process to save money, like Sony did with the PStwo, for instance.

Microsoft has God's pockets. Sony has shallow pockets. Sony is coming in with an inherently costlier system. Microsoft needs to keep up the pressure, which a $250 price point would do.

I don't think they want to press their luck with anti-trust that blatantly.

The next step for former Nintendo 2nd party Silicon Knights has been revealed in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. The company is currently working with Microsoft on turning the futuristic world of Too Human into a next-generation trilogy on Xbox 360.
Too Human is a project the studio has been kicking around for years. Originally announced as an original PlayStation game, Silicon Knights has kept a lid on the idea ever since, though the game has appeared several times since, most recently as a GameCube title.
Silicon Knights previously announced a publishing partnership with Sega, but this announcement confirms the deal covers another game in development at the studio.
Stay tuned to 1UP.com for more details on the planned Too Human trilogy following Microsoft's official announcement.
"Too Human" has been hyped for years by the Gamecube fans, at least on the IGN forums. It was supposedly going to be one of the killer apps on Gamecube.
Now it'll be an Xbox 360 Trilogy.
