Imran, get your money ready, the UEFA president has just said that if Liverpool in the CL and the FA ask for an extra place then UEFA will give it to them!!

You'd better hope Milan do you a favour!!

    I it when I'm right!

UEFA President Johansson made a personal remark. He isn't the executive committee, which has been against the idea. Johansson just said that England should go through the formal process, and personally, he's receptive to the idea. Not exactly a ruling for Liverpool. UEFA will not give England 5 spots if Liverpool wins.

    • So, you wanna make it $50?

      Thought not!

Face it, we win it, were in it!

      • EPL doesn't deserve 5 spots -La Liga, in the very end of the millenium deserved it much more - but they didn't get it, did they?

        • Exactly Az, which is why I think the executive council won't approve it. Johansson is just trying to be all diplomatic, and by saying its his personal opinion shields him when UEFA votes England down.

Yes, ok, but then an other team from another country has to be dropped, no?

"Fair" doesn't come into it. Liverpool and Madrid are big clubs, Real Zaragoza isn't. Thats life.

I'm not saying it's right, but Liverpool *WILL* be in the CL next year if they beat Milan. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a niave fool (no offence Imran!)

                Yeah, probably. Who cares?

If you put yourself in the place of say the Moldavian league winners, who would you rather play (get knocked out to) in the qualifiers, Liverpool (TV money, gate reciepts) or the runners up of the Austrian league?

                • It could very be the mean bankruptcy for the team that gets dropped. I think the EUFA will face a lot of protest from smaller countries, eager to not let this happen.
I doubt they want a precedent on this and face the same thing as team that may get dropped this year.

I do see a play-off happening between Liverpool and Everton though..

                  • For a small club playing Liverpool on TV could stave off bankruptcy, my post before was badly worded, but if you were a small club and had the choice of getting the money for playing Liverpool or getting the money for playing another small club and probably getting knocked out either way, which would you pick?

Although , it seems that if Liverpool get in, it won't be as the 'fifth' place, they'll be seeded into the league stages and the second place in England (Arsenal, hence Wenger diatribe before Sundays game) will have to qualify.

                      • Yep, I got it on right now .

Great game for two teams with really nothing to play for (any points won't matter to either team at this point)

                          • Chelsea had gotten the record for most points in a Premiership season with this win, the commentator said. I'm glad it happened against the Red Devils .

Ferguson has made some awful signings and still hasnt replaced Beckham or Schmeichel, next season will be fun to watch them slide even further.
