Re: open office

I've been using the MS Word that I transferred from my previous setup, and now, it seems to have stopped functioning.
So, I'm in the market for something to replace my copy of MS office, because it's no use to me, if I can't use it.
Is open office any good?

Well, then offer another suggestion.
I seem to get along with Open Office just fine.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Openoffice is probably your only option for a free office suite. It works reasonably well, the file formats won't corrupt (unlike MS Office), and most importantly, is free.(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

I really hate Microsoft's Office, but have to use it at work. I prefer a lot simpler word processors and a lot clearer spreadsheet programs. Trying to find a function is torture. You know it exists as even Lotus had it. But damned if you can find it amongst the menus, via help or even with those encyclapedic books that Microsoft sells. Microsoft Office is the jack of all trades, master of none. He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!

I use open office and have never had a problem with it aside from the fact that I prefer to use Excel over the OpenOffice counterpart.Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.
