Yep... but seeing that Braves bullpen, not sure it would have mattered to the final result.

You know, I have been watching ESPN news, and reading SI, etc., and all I hear about is Dodgers, Dodgers, Dodgers, with a few Mets are going to win comments. Nary a word about the now 12-4 White Sox, who are off to their best start in almost a century. I suspect the Chicago press are ignoring this story as Nomar got hurt, and that is more important than the ignored South Side team.
Well, I was born on the South Side. All I can say is that I am amazed that the Sox' fast start. Wow !http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

13-4, best in the majors. Finally we see the SI and ESPN say something about the Sox start. Matches the best all time for that team.
Nary a word here, though. Most folks would seem to be more concerned by Nomar's injury or the Yankee's poor start.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

21-7. They seem to have also set a major league record for the number of consecutive games starting a season in which they held a lead. They have lead in every game, to date.
What a turn around from last year. Simply amazing.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

I would also have to say that the Orioles start at 18-9 is a surprise. The Cardinals start at 18-8 had to be expected.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

23-7, and they extend their record start having lead in every game.
Still, no press coverage. Gammons' most recent column is about the Orioles. SI continues to talk about the Yanks. ESPN baseball tonight focuses on the Cubs, the Marlins and the Yanks. Never a word about the Sox. The one time they did talk about the Sox, every member of the roundtable still picked the Twins to win the division, although some did grant the Sox the "possibility" of being the wild card.
The way this is going, I suspect the Sox will once again have no all stars save one or two pitchers. But even this is amazing as the Sox have been leading the American lead or baseball in pitching all year; but in a recent poll on SI or was it ESPN, they were not listed as an option for the fans to pick the best pitching staff in baseball.
What does this say about the national media? They are all group think. It will take a long time for the media to actually begin reporting on what is really going on in baseball rather than what they think should be going on in baseball.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

Most people say that after 30 games - you have a pretty good read on where your team stands (contender or not). It would appear that the Yankees are not contenders, but that the White Sox, Orioles, Angels, Dodgers, Cardinals, and Braves are.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

pchang, agreed.
24-7. 8 in a row. Best start in franchise history. Best start in major league baseball history in terms of leads.
"The White Sox improved baseball's top record to 24-7, matching the 1919 club for the best start in franchise history. They have led in all 31 games this season, a major league record.
Chicago starters are 19-3 with a 2.96 ERA."
Expert recap and game analysis of the Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays MLB game from May 8, 2005 on ESPN.
But what is the lead story? On SI, it is the Atlanta Braves. On ESPN, it is the Seattle Mariners. On MLB.com, it is the Nationals and the Yankees. On FoxSports, it is the Cubs.
And so on and so on.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en
