Elok, yeah that was the turn around, but Rooskies did drive Nazis back to Germany, so it was more than just the weather. I'd say the weather was the single biggest contributor for Russians though, because Stalingrad was about to fall when Germans were coming in, and they were evacuating almost in panic, because they were coming so fast and advancing that it was very difficult to make the time, so the general what's his name thought they would lose for sures, but that they still need to defend the city and hopefully evacuate as many as possible. Desperate situation.

However, enter cold, enter weaponry not working, enter artillery not working and enter Hitler not exactly thinking support is important. So .. yeah. But after that happened, Russians did drive them back so once they gained the momentum that Germans so long had, they were able to use it to their advantage as well.

I am tired of commies making hay out of the so called evil Soviet regime. I think the Soviets were paper tigers all along. What did they ever do anyway? The US is more evil without trying (Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Grenada). The Soviets were overrated. I don't think they had the balls to attack anyone.

Actually, he's the Brit General and theorist who invented the Blitzkrieg. The Germans learned from him, the Brits didn't, until too late.

His book on WWII is one of the really good ones, and easier to read that The Rise and Decline of the Third Reich. Course I ain't read it for 20 years.

You might want to read Fuller too, if you're going to read Liddell-Hart. Although Liddell-Hart is a bit out-dated now.

You should check out what the red army did to the Japanese in Manchuria in '45. They took a territry the size of western Europe (the terrain was even worse than that in Europe) in less than a month while totallly routing the Japanese opposition in the process. This must be the biggest Blitzkrieg ever.

Does anyone know the public reaction in the US to the German attack on the USSR? As I said earlier in this thread, the reaction may have been "positive" even though, as we know, FDR immediately began supporting the USSR. But, was US aid to the Soviet Union known to the US public?
