  • My Friend and I are Debating Over Wether Boxing is About the KO or the Points

I say its about scoring as many points as you can, if you score a KO, great!

My friend says the whole point it to score a KO, the points are only used to judge the winner if there is none (a KO).

    What say you?

You and your friend should settle this issue through boxing

He weighs 200+ pounds and can bench 300+

I weigh around 150 and can hardly push my own weight.

So the answer to that would be, no.

Both are acceptable ways of winning a fight.

Originally the fights went on a la Fight Club, until someone was KOed or gave up or was disqualified.

          Hey, go for points then.

Though I'm not a big boxing fan.. I do prefer the knock-out.

I thought boxing was about the money and getting the most fixed fights in your favour.

A win is a win is a win.
Points will get it done just as well as a k.o. or t.k.o.

I got a KO and a TKO to my name(ametuer), and that was enough for me to realise that for me it seemed to be about the KO when in the ring.

but yeah boxing is kinda stupid(i felt pretty sorry for the TKO guy), but on an animal/primative level it makes sense some how.

Boxing is barbaric and should be outlawed.

The good thing about boxing is there are a lot of different strategies to win. If you said boxing is about the KO or boxing is about the points, then you would be limiting the strategies of the fighters by about half and the matches would be more boring.

I'd love to see pro boxing get cleaned up, but I don't see it happening. That's a real shame, because the sport of boxing is the the toughest sport to play that I know of.

well the training was hard as nails for sure. but i was a bit disapointed once in the ring, it didn't quite live up to the hype(maybe i needed better opponents?). But it was interesting and two fights was enough for me to see the damage you could do to your brain

I like to watch it on tv though - something very 'honest' about two evenly weighted guys standing toe-to-toe. Not that the pro scene is often that honest with fixed fights etc, but still i find i appriciate it a whole lot more after trying it, even just two fights worth.

In terms of toughness i found rugby to be more of a test for me - trying to not get injured was quite an art
