Yeah, but most families don't get right-wing political groups behind them to make it a national issue in order to further their own agendas.

    • I'm surprised the faimly doesn't see how they are being exploited

This is going to be like one of those execution protests - people are going to demonstrate and scream at each other right up until the point when this poor woman passes away and then they'll all just shuffle off into the night.

noone is going to feel good
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

        -- Ronald Reagan
        And now,

MILDENHALL, England - First lady Laura Bush said Tuesday the government was right to have intervened in the case of Terri Schiavo, a severely brain-damaged Florida woman whose case has stirred national debate about life and death issues.

"I just feel like the federal government has to be involved," Mrs. Bush said. "It is a life issue that really does require government to be involved."

          Spoiler:

Yes it is different because she did give consent. But what Eastwood did was murder. It's against the law to help somone committ suicide. And that is what that was. It wasn't euthanasia, it was helping someone commit suicide. And she was just disabled, she wasn't brain damaged, or in a coma. She was no worse off than christopher reeve.
Dis, if a person chooses to die under the circumstances or Reeve, Million Dollar Baby, or a PVS, I would not torture the person to death. I would do it as quickly and as painlessly as possible. What is happening to Terri is clearly torture in many more ways than one.

shawn, you neglect to mention that hope is around the corner with all the new research into stem cells.

Sava, there has been no judgment as to how she got into this state. As with other facts, that matter is also highly disputed.

Horse, are all those trying to save Terri hypocrits even if one of them is? Is that a reason to ignore the those pleading for mercy?

You know, with the ACLU being so heavily involved with this case, and with certain Dems making a strong political issue of this case, there may be a two-way street on the issue of use of this tragic affair to further political interests.

                      • The 11th Circuit has granted a full circuit review. Hopefully they will also grant a TRO to save Terri pending.

                        • Rufus, Bizzaro GOP? You simply refuse to acknowledge the many liberals who are on the side of mercy as well. It is clear from the many posts here from liberals attacking the pro-Terri people as being "fundies" and the like, regardless of the facts, that the people making a political issue of this are the primarily from the left.

except for the fact she doesn't feel pain.
