Just for the record I am also 35 not that anyone cares but I think around this age you start to worry bout retirement funds or lack there of and want to do something valuable with your life. I really hate the healthcare field and want to do something else that doesnt require punching a time clock. Truth be known I tried to go to school for something else but started to miss my old job go figure.

Being dyslexic is hard work. I don't even try anymore.
My dad was a nurse. He eventually got a job negotiating between workers comp insurance company and doctors.
Now he teaches English in Siberia to 20 year old women. Go figure.
Anyway, I think nurses usually don't have trouble finding jobs. He's had so many jobs its unbelievable, even though he has moved more than the average person.

Thats the whole problem right now i dont want to move I still have 3 young kids. I have really no choice but to accept travel assignments and do those for 13 weeks and then take some time off between contracts to be with my kids. My ex as stated he wants more time with our kids so I have allowed him that time. It has worked because I need to leave them for 13 weeks at a time.

if by "deadbeat dad" you mean a person who does nothing but being a full-time parent, that my hat goes off to all deadbeat dads, everywhere.
No, that's not what that means. A deadbeat dad is one who has left his family and doesn't pay anything to help raise his kids.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

To be more specific you can be a dead beat dad too if you dont make time to spend with that kid too.

Your age is not the problem, the problem is your mental state. It seems that you are starting to settle down in the ground state of doing nothing, and letting your life slide away. Take heart! this situation is rectifiable. All you need is the good old (fascist ) notion of willpower. It seems that you're suffering from a feeling of a loss of purpose for life. This is not uncommon in modern life, to say the least, and the reasons for this were in fact described the best by a crazy lunatic terrorist, the american called the Unabomber.
So, by far the most important thing in life is having goals and achieving them. Often, these shouldn't be extraordinary, but require a real effort. My goals would be these:
a) get back in shape.
b) get married/ have kids.
This may not sound like much, but kids are quite often the strongest lasting impact we make in this universe, and the good thing is, even if you feel like you're not this amazing great person you wish you were, you can always try and make your kids great.
In this point of single life, you might think that I am quite mad: but you shouldn't. It beats the hell out of doing nothing, every day of the year, with one hand tied behind the back .
Thanks, Azazel The getting back in shape part is in the works. Me and a friend will go to the local boxing club for some physical training. 150 $ for a years membership and classes 4 times a week. One year from now I will be a mean lean fighting machine...or at least not so flabby
But I don´t know about about the child thing. I don´t think children should be used as a means of self fullfillment. If you procreate you should want it, you should want all the hassle that it is raising a child. I don´t want that, I have no wish to procreate and I don´t want the responsibility that a child is. Maybe later, but not now. EDIT: Besides, I don´t want to **** up their childhood as my dad ****ed up mine. He is a whining alcoholic that never wanted kids.
But you´re right, I have practically given up on society and humanity as a whole. A few more years of this and I could be the one that´s sitting in a cabin in the swedish wilderness and sending letter bombs to the swedish PM. Let´s hope it doesn´t come to that
I really have to turn my life around, I just have to find a reason for doing it. And strenght of will.

I was just temping, doing odd jobs which helped the office without helping the company very much. My boss couldn't really take any credit, she didn't even hire me. The aim was to get her to the point where she spent so much time liasing with people to find me work that her productivity dropped. It only really worked on one day before I left.

Motivation is for saps, be motivate to succeed at obtaining that goal. If you can't think of any goals just pick a random one, or an obscure one. At least then, you'd be doing something.

Not that there will ever be any revolution in the west, the working class is to divided, stupid and comportable with capitalism as it is. They don´t want change as long as they can stuff thier mouths with McDonalds, drive their SUVs and watch the mindnumbingly stupid excuse for tv-programs.
If I could have actually afforded to do anything over those 7 months then I would have done and I am sure I could have had a relatively jolly 7 months if I'd have been able to do things although when you can't you just get bored, bored, bored. It makes me think what the hell I would do if I ever won a million pounds or more, I couldn't just do nothing with all that time...I suppose I would have to explore the Earth or something. But it just strikes me that it would remove all challenge and be remarkably boring.
And as for the financial sector, well it is a bit of an ethical no-no for me, especially investment banking, although it depended on the degree of parasitism.
