  • Christianity is good, paganism is bad, atheism is void.

    • What's wrong with paganism, as a whole?

And "void" is fine if a) it's honest and b) it allows us to fill it with ourselves.

      • Actually, all three are void, but only one is honest with themselves.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Good to hear, because my negative view of Christianity comes in large part from Methodists and Baptists. I'd venture to guess that's the case (mainstream, "legitimate" denominations, that is, not those two specifically) more often than someone forming a negative view of Christianity solely because of Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses.

Edit: crap, that's what I get for skimming the thread.

I can see that them Marxists have been drilling a lot of hogwash into your brain.

I'm more of a true Christian than you.

That one-liner is worthy being quoted in my sig, but just because I'm Mr. Nice Guy and a Christian I'm not gonna do it.

The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

              • This thread is a hot contender for the title of "Lamest thread ever!". It's got discourse on what constitutes true Christianity. It's got Asher and Agathon, coupled with Steve Jobs references. It's got Fez. It's got over-confident atheists stridently asserting that only they have The Way And The Truth. It's got Fez.

Notice the lack of participants from a pagan perspective? We've got too much taste.

                      • OK. I'm a pagan. There's your proof.

Would you like me to explain, or do you still have all the answers?

For the record, I'm more agnostic than atheist. I don't believe one can effectively say "there is no god" any more than one can say, "there is a god".

But then again, one doesn't need to be an atheist to know that human religions are flawed and the product OF humans. That's why I laugh at Christians, Jews, and Muslims. They sit and pray to something that was fabricated over a thousand years ago.

My grandmother, who ironically was a devout Christian, told me, "you have a brain to use it, lose it, or abuse it."

I choose to use the brain that may or may not have been given to me by a God. By putting faith in unproven conjecture and mythology, Christians are not using their brains. And by rejecting science and other facts that disprove many parts of their religion, they are abusing their mind by believing in something that is obviously false.

Oh, and not forget about Asia, especially in places like China. BTW, that Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami opened up a BIG oppurtunity for us Christians over there. That's a good example of how God can make good things happen out of bad things.

I could probably dig out a photo of me on Glastonbury Tor on Midsummer's morning. Would you accept that as proof that I'm a pagan?
