Does swearing at God count as praying?

Praying is for the supersticious and that time is better spent plotting the down fall of my enemies. BUHWAHHAHHHAHH!

That's between me and God, allright?

Not belabor the distinctiveness of Judaism, but its interesting to me that frequency of prayer doesnt always correlate with traditional beliefs among Jews, at least among the non-Orthodox - prayer is for us a cultural tradition, laden with music and ritual, and family and group associations. Also of course many approach it as a personal and spiritual time, not a conversation with an old guy with a beard. This can be challenging given the manifest content of many traditional prayers, but weve been reinterpreting texts for thousands of years.

So, JM, how should i respond to the poll - i definitely pray several times a week, but not necessarily most days?

Divide your weekly prayers by 7

I try and pray first thing when I get up in the morning, and last thing before I go to bed at night. The key word being try.

Awful as it might sound, there have been many, many nights where after a hearty session partying, prayer is the last thing on my mind when I collapse on to bed. There have also been several mornings where I've slept in, and the top priority is getting my clothes on and bolting out the door for class.

So, optimistically I try to pray twice, but in practice it's probably once a day.
