I thought you meant the final... Final's always on BBC and ITV but I can't imagine why anyone would watch it on the commercials channel.

You can't really have funny advertising in soccer anyway. Maybe at the half, but aside from that, there are no natural stops and starts to have them.

          True that.

Thank god. That's the worst thing about US football. I think I'd enjoy it if they just had breaks after each quarter or whatever.

When they have live games here (even on Sky) more than half the times the US footage cuts for ad breaks they cut to the studio for a bit more analysis instead. It's unbelievable how many ads you get.

              Television Tax vs. More Commercials

“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Television Tax for me, thank you very much.

Really? That's odd. Because the US coverage didn't even think of having cut-away ads. The advertising they had was like "This portion of the game brought to you by Nike".

I think I'd enjoy it if they just had breaks after each quarter or whatever.

How are you supposed to make a leisurely walk to the fridge for more provisions if the next break isn't until 30 minutes later?

Then again, I do watch soccer games on Fox Sports World (now Fox Soccer Channel)... I just end up missing part of the game for snacks... the WORST is when I want a soda and I miss a goal .

Have enough supplies ready for the half!

And remember, if there are lots of people round and someone has to go and urinate, wait just long enough for them to get started then get everyone to shout "GOAL!!!" And watch them come running back to see the replay.

If I'm on a commercial channel I just switch over to the BBC when they come on.

And I'm sure that people like you spend a lot of time making sure that even if you ignore the commercials they are still having an impact.

Also - no wonder the US has an obesity problem if people need to get up for snacks and sodas that often during a game!!! Maybe it's the advertising... must get a bud... must get a coke... must get different washing powder... huh?

So doI, the thing is...9 out 10 I forget to switch back.
                              I often see..oooh... 4 or 5 films, well 2 beginnings and 2 endings that is of-course.

Don't have woman. And besides, there are two types of women: those who know crap about the sport and are thus annoying to have around during game; and those that know a ton about the sport and don't want to miss part of the game either.

Fridge is not within sit-on-coach-and-open distance. Cold beer is required!
