Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

It doesn't really follow that if you beleive Jesus will return within 50 years that you don't believe in long term planning unless you are absolutely certain that he will return in that time frame. While some Christians may believe that I don't that that's the way they worded the question when they did the study.

If Bush hears about that, Finland is doomed.

Not necessarily. Despite their tendency to vote Democratic, Blacks tend to be very conservative on many matters of faith. I'm sure a disproprtionate number of fundimentalists are Black.

I imagine that has more to do with Mammon than Christ.

I have a hard team believing the research... not a single person I know believes that crap.
And I know a bunch of conservatives, and supposedly religious folks...

                Believe it.

I had a hard time believing that most people do not have books in their houses until I started working for a furniture company.

We tend to move in circles of people like us. Out there, there are hordes of people who might as well be space aliens to us.

not surprising about books. Most people do not read. Even I don't read anymore. The books I have are when I used to read. And they are all paperback, I'm not going to pay extra for hardcover.

That's brave of you to say, but do you believe like they do - that we whould worry about our problems, because God will take care of them, or that Jesus will return anyday now?

I don't think they think we shouldn't take care of our problems.

And... I don't know. I even don't know if I believe in God or not. I do pray, but we simply don't know when Christ will return. Yup, He can return anyday now, and in fact Christians should live as if He was to return soon.
