Hha! Seen the first 5 episodes now. Awesome season once again coming up.. Will there be an airstrike or not? Will Jack go in despite the strike is coming? Who knows!
Anyways, the robbery thing, I think it was the only reasonable action at the moment. He WANTED to have the guy going on with hsi car. Slash the tires and he won't go on. He'll prolly jack another car instead, which can take him about 1 minute to do, and not enough for the satellite to come back in, beause he coudln't follow him so close anymore coming to an area bad for that..
That's the point. He needed to take the situation so that he can dictate if it takes 1 minute, 5 minutes or 20 minutes until he goes again and drives his car to the terrorist base. With his own car. He took control of the situation. Granted, a little risky, but I feel the only real option where he could dictate the time, aka hold him until the satellite surveillance kicks in and then let him go on about his chores.
Slashing tires guarantees nothing. It was imperative to have the satellite coverage. Without it, Jack would have lost him, and because of that he would have had to take him into custody instead.
Of course they ended up in his car anyway together, but that was a mistake. He didn't want the cops to come in.
But YES, taking the mask off was... stupid. There is just no purpose for doing it, what's teh point wearing it anyway if you take it off, just like rah pointed out. And he made another excellent point, the hostages or at least some of them will think that they will be killed now because he takes it off, killed later on or something. Those hostages could become uncontainable. They could try something. At least 3 or 4 dudes, fairly threatning guys if pushed. All in space, where he didn't hear them, where they could have talked and with all kinds of stuff in that room like bottles and all kinds of possible weapons. Thinking they might die right now.. uh oh.. just keep the mask on!
And of course he dumped his cell phone. Becauise they were tapping on it, they listened his conversations. Just confiscating it at that point would have only meant what.. getting a new phone? They already had the records, or coul have pulled them and listening his phone.. so there was no real usage for taking the phone away.
What I'm saying is, Jack did the only good thing in that situation, where he was in control, truly. Drastic measure, but the only one. Except taking the maks off, that was stupid. In da butt.

Also that new head of the CTU, that Driscoll woman, seems highly incompetent for the position. She just doesn't think on her feet. She drops, she won't land running like Jack did, or even Tony. The first thing she does is making Chloe's life harder, which isn't the thing to do. Jack and Tony knew it, she always was kind of.. socially weird, and sometimes hard to work with but she was the best. So that counts for something, she delivers, that should be enough.
Oh and as for last season, I didn't like that Kim was operating in CTU with them puters and information. No way in hell she could learn all that stuff, or protocols in that time, and become an expert AND the experience needed for out of the ordinary situations and how to handle them and be independent thinker like that. Just stupid. In da butt.

Pekka from the previews it looks like Jack goes in alone, manages to free the Sec of Def. and has to leave his girl friend behind. As for if the airstrike happens, I have a feeling that they call it off.

^ Yep, Jack activated kick ass mode alright. The first 10 minutes were absolutely amazing. And we do learn what the true terrorist plot is. But does anyone feel that it is unrealistic? I am not sure the internet can be used like that.'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

Stretches of plot.......The trademark of '24'.
Last nights show gives me hope that they're back on track. I was dissapointed till then.
Sucks to be a son last night.
It was a fun romp. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

It's a bit early in the day for them to reveal the master plan, so either they're reallly going to stretch it out, Or there's something even more diabolical. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Well the other season they had something AFTER a nuclear bomb was detonated. So you never know.
I hope there is something, because 18-19 more hours would be the longest of stretches. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I actually watched last night's show. Pretty good. Though I started to lose interest after the initial action scene.
I liked that first 10 minutes of action though. It's nice to see such violence on american television . Bodies going down everywhere. Some of the action was a little far fetched though. Going in with a silenced pistol against submachine guns and assault rifles The scene behind the car was the worse. Not only were they holding guys with assault rifles down when they themselves had pistols (at medium to long range mind you), they kill several of them!

Jack doesn't miss. He's an expert
But yes, being implassable has never stopped the writers for 24. (any story line including Kim serve as examples)It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
