  • No need to restart.

It's just odd that I can't trade techs, make treaties, and so forth.

I WAS able to talk to the Indians a few turns ago, but not now.

    It's just an oddity.

Lord Charles Monk writes to his son…

            Richmond House, Westminter 1685

The King’s illness turned out to be serious. All England mourns the death of the “Black Boy”, who brought cheer and gaiety back to a country sick and tired of the dour Puritans and their Covenanter friends.

The Duke of York has assumed the throne as James II. His Catholic sympathies are well known – and do not sit well with the mood of the country. So far, people are giving the new King the benefit of the doubt. There will be trouble if he seeks to change his brother’s wise policy of official Anglicanism – what ever his private faith may be. The general happiness that pervaded our land is much reduced, however.

No great news from abroad. Many Irish settlers have taken ship for New England to seek their fortunes.

At home, our Northern armies are finally ready to sally out from Edinburgh and complete the long-awaited conquest of Scotland.

            Chas.

Charles Monk, 2nd Duke of Albemarle

              • After very complicated naval maniouvres () the Spanish Navy in the Mediterranean Sea managed to take the city of Algiers. It won't be any longer the nest of barbary pirates it was.

Lord Charles Monk writes to Admiralty employers…

                      Horse Guards, Westminster 1686

Aberdeen & Ballaculish have fallen! The last Scottish rebel lords bow the knee to their rightful King. At long last, the dream of uniting these islands under one rule has been achieved….Only at the cost of many lives, though - both English troopers and Scottish clansmen.

A diplomatic mission has been commissioned to treat with those parts of the Caribbean still not under English (or should I say “British” now?) rule.

Sir George Abercromby is preparing another expedition against the Indians.

                        • Seems like you didn't want me all alone in North Africa, did you Henrik? What the infierno, there's a whole continent beyond the pond waiting to be settled.

PS: Why don't you post your turns Henrik?

                            Go for it Henrik!

But don't forget to post your turns as well as emailing them!

                            My Lords,

General Abercromby’s expedition has met with total success so far. The old French fort at Tinconderoga – since occupied by the Iroquois – has fallen with hardly a shot fired. Also, a new fort has been constructed at the head of Lake Ontario – very near the huge waterfall recently discovered by our scouts. The savages in the area have been thoroughly cleared out, the General informs me.

Aside from that, the new sanitation works in the Capital are near completion. I think we will all appreciate any reduction in the foul stink that haunts London’s streets!

No news yet on the King’s longtitude competition, but it is early days yet.

Finally, I have to warn the King’s ministers that this ill-advised policy of Catholic toleration is not playing well in the Country or Parliament. The King is playing with fire here!

                            • Problems abound....

                              Something is real wrong, guys.

Holland now has Flintlock tech, yet I wasn't reseaching it, and didn't trade for it!

For some reason the diplo-interface in this scenario is not functioning properly.

I'm enjoying the game, but this is odd.
