File posted to Chris last night. I forgot to post it here - so here it is today!

Not too much to report - except English Gold is flowing in freely - and flowing out again on rush building improvements almost as quickly!

          • Fun, eh?

Well, Manolo, where is the Spanish report on 1708?

I admit the last English one was a bit short - but at least there WAS one! I shall try to be more descriptive when I play tonight...

(By the way, I have to agree with your original pessimism about Civ III. It has been removed from my hard disk after two week's play - thank God I didn't waste the money on my own copy!)

            • Guys, my gobi/visto e-mail accounts are fried, and all data (addresses and such) are lost.

Please PM me your e-mail addresses (I'm not putting my mail on an open forum again)

              Thanks

Lazy Waku! (perhaps I'm waiting for a funnier year ). Now seriously it takes me a lot to write a decent one, I'll try something next time (maybe there will be soon something to report )

                • 1708, English Coffeehouse Gossip

This year, the first English ships have set sail on that great Indian Lake, called Erie. They carried the New Hampshire Militia regiment, and a French Fort was found abandoned at the head of the Lake and briefly occupied.

On the infernal, mosquito-ridden coast of the Central Americas our sailors have begun to explore the jungle interior. No gold or jewels - but plenteous forest fruits have been found - and these are of more practical importance to the half-starved colonists....

The Dutch-held interior of the Virginian seaboard has also been explored more extensively, this time by regular troops sent from Europe.

Our churchmen are reported to be working on a project to contact the Indians of the far interior, but this might take many more years to achieve.

In England and Eireland, great strides have been made in agriculture, and the land is blossoming under the new system. The population of our blessed land grows daily, our economy is the largest anywhere in the world - truely, God is an Englishman!

File posted here, while I await Chris's email address.

                    • England is adviced to remove any troop contignents in temporarly quarantined french forts.
If they remain when french troops return to reman the fort it will be considered a declaration of war.

(though why anyone would want to take over a quarantined fortress remains a clue to the french )

                      • Eeek! The plague!

Already, the New Hampshire lads are pushing and shoving each other to get out of the fort, trampling several officers quite severely in the process. No discipline, these colonials!

Henrik, are you up for a continuation of Hellas this saturday afternoon? Sorry it didn't happen last weekend, other things got in the way. Manolo, are you up for it as well? 13:00 - 17:00 GMT.

                                Dear Mr Charles Monk,

His Imperial Highness see we tremendous sorrow that a bunch of barbarian rabble is disturbing the peace in the vicinity of Mérida. The banana plantation belongs to these Spanish citizens. If this resource is not returned to their rightful owners it will be considered as an act of war against the Spanish Crown and appropiate measures will be taken.
