Waku has sent me 1665 again! I have written to you all suggesting we play on from Henriks 1666 save. I have therefore moved, the AI has played the Spanish (without doing any major diplomatic moves as far as I can see.

The Plague stalks London! Most that can afford it have left for the country before now. I only quit my offices in Whitehall yesterday.
From my coaching inn window, I can see large orange flames rising above the stricken city. At first it looked like a simple fire – now it appears to be spreading out of control.
Aside from our domestic problems, the year has been one of quiet progress in agriculture and trade. Even the French have gone quiet. I don’t like it….

London is still only barely inhabitable after the conflagration they are already calling The Great Fire. I have moved my offices to Portsmouth while my new headquarters are being built in the White Hall.
Good news from the colonies: They are already gaining better harvests now our Iroquois allies are showing our people how to cultivate native crops in New England.
At last, peace with Huron. Those savages have seen the futility of waging war on behalf of their paymasters the French, and have retired to their own villages.
A Raiding Party - from some tribe not heretofore encountered - was destroyed beyond the Charles Town stockade by a small expeditionary force. All told, conditions are much improved for farming in New England...
Little activity in the French War. Our Naval building goes on apace - as I'm sure theirs does. It can only be a matter of time before there is a terrible clash. Of course, there is no doubt who the victors will be...
The King is well, although much given to mistresses. The latest is a charming creature called Miss Gwen. Common, of course, but I can see why the Royal Eye was drawn to her!

We here in Holland are not unduly allarmed by our war with Catholic Spain.
Our shiprights, the most brilliant in the world, have made a breakthrough, and have discovered a new science of Navel Design.
With this, we can now build swift and powerful Men of war, to protect Dutch interests throughout the world.
Fierce pirates have been seen near New Holland, but we are not unduly alarmed.

A sizable French attack on Norwich has destroyed some merchant’s goods, and routed the Militia regiment of Foot stationed there. However, our cavalry was mobilised, made a forced march from the Black Country and won an easy victory just outside Lowestoft. The Ironsides have rediscovered their old skills for war! And perhaps the French Army is not so fearsome after all? The city itself was unharmed.
Much Pirate activity in the Carribean. I have heard that Henry Morgan has taken the Spanish City of Puerto Principe and has converted into a base for his further depredations…
The Crown naturally deplores this lawless behaviour – but I can’t surpress a sneaking admiration for the rogue!
New naval designs presage the escalation of the war. Perhaps it is time to take the war to the French mainland?
Commercial news: We have traded Muskets to our Iroquois allies, and Furs from the New World have been sold to to the rich burghers of Amsterdam at a vast profit! However, the Dutch court will not contemplate an alliance with us – and have even made peace with the French! I hope this is not the start of a return to the dark days of 1660!
Finally, the Royal Academy has appointed many new Fellows of the Society to study the new knowledge that is being brought back from the Americas every year. Our scientific efforts must be the envy of Europe.
