Finland

Finland welcomes scientists
The finnish goverment has decided to found the International Science Center (ISC) in Jyväskylä. It's meant to be the center of peaceful researching in the war shattered Europe. Goverment funds the most of the expenses, but other countries are free and almost expected to sponsor.

Paasikivi: "A hope of peace".
President Paasikivi respects the efforts made by both USSR and USA. He also hopes, that the peace negotiations doesn't generate new conflicts, like happened in WW2 and WW3. "And of course, Finland is willing to send peace keepers to stabilize condition after war.

Already waiting for presidental elections
Even the elections are held in 1955, there is a small atmesphere going on. It is quite sure, that Paasikivi doesn'tgo for a third term. Some have speculated, that either Prime minister Kekkonen (center) or Socialist democratic party leader Fagerholm is the next president.

Scientists travel to Finland
A team of scientists will accept the Finish invitation to continue their studies at the new International Science Institute in Jyvaskyla. The team has been working on developing new plant strains that can grow in arid climates. If successful the project has the potential to vastly increase the worlds arable land.

International Student exchange with Libya
Egypt has invested much in time and money to develop an education system that rivals the west. We have done this not only for ourselves, but also for the benefit of all our Arab neighbors. A student exchange with Libya will give their students the benefit of our schools and our students the benefit of their culture. This exchange will foster a lasting cooperation between Arab nations.

When we recognized Israel as a sovereign nation we thought that doing so would cause Israel to recognize the rights of its Palestinian citizens. When the UN created the state of Israel it was required to provide equal rights to all its citizens. Yet the Palestinians who where forced out of their homes by the Jews that moved to Israel remain huddled in squalid refugee camps many with out basic sanitation, fresh water or electricity. I call for a resolution to condemn Israel’s repulsive racist policy.

Gaza Rebuilt
Egypt will begin bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza. Engineers will help the Palestinians create sanitation, water purifiers and electrical generators. Where ever possible locals will be trained to run and maintain the equipment.

Military improvement program takes flight
Air Force opens Tayyib Bikair, a Top Gun type school to improve dogfight and close air support capability of Egyptian pilots. Aircraft avionics will also be upgraded to improve target detection.

Soviets accept deal
The soviets have agreed to sell salvage rights to the ships recently damaged in the Mediterranean theater. Some of the vessels were only beached so it is hoped that some are still in fair condition. In accordance with our agreement any documents that remain on board are to be turned over to the Soviet embassy in Cairo.

Heavy industry receives boost
A tractor factory will be constructed to help satisfy the continuing needs of the Dam project and the increased farming needs after its completion.

President Farouk cracks down on corruption
The police are ordered to take corruption seriously before it erodes confidence in the government. After a few months of investigation it is expected that they will find a high-ranking city official to be prosecuted very publicly. The secret police will monitor police corruption.

I thank you for your offer, but think we have as many as we need right now. The inhabitants of Gaza are in grave need of help in many ways though and we invite you to assist our reconstruction efforts there.
