No idea. Now all instants resolves LIFO anyway. Bah.

    • Re: Mana Short vs. Jareth?

In response to casting Mana Short, you can tap mana. This is kind of important being that if you wanted to, say, counter it, it helps to be able to tap mana. So, in response to Mana Short, you can tap white mana and give Jareth prot blue (and burn any more mana on it as you desire).

      That said...

I cast Mana Short in your upkeep. You can only play instants or activated abilities in response (since it's not their main phase yet). You give Jareth prot blue in response. Congratulations, I say. You pass the turn without doing anything because you have no mana. On my turn, Jareth's protections are gone (they last until end of turn), and you can cast Control Magic. Unless your opponent was a bastard and had a plains in hand, which he played on his turn after you already tapped his land and emptied his mana. So maybe Shorting him at the end of his turn is safer, although then he can spend his mana on other things during the turn.
      All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

I guess, having a birds of paradise (my fav. green card ever since 4th edition) is the best way to solve this Jareth problem

                  • It's a 4/4 wall. It can't attack, it can fly.

As soon as it blocks for the first time, its creature type changes from a wall to a Giant Bird, which basically just means it can now attack. It also means it can be the target of spells that affect all Giant Birds (Engineered Plague springs to mind, but recent expansions have far more spells that target creature types), and not affected by spells that target walls.

                    Bit unusual that one.

                    • Of course, it also means that any effects that grants bonuses to birds will also apply.

Yeah I thought it was strange too. I've never seen a wall like that.

                        • The Sentinels are pretty cool - they turn defense into attack!

The wall I don't like is Sunweb, but that's only because its original art showed a dragon being slain.

Could you please confine rules discussion to the rules thread, please. Same to snowfire, though thanks for answering the question.

This way people get less confused between the threads.
