It's been awhile since I played, but good post.


Do you go to the bottom of the Mines before going to the next level of the Dungeons?

Yes. I'm a strict linear thinker. Luckstones help when going down the Dungeons of Doom.

Do you wear a shield?
Hardly ever find one.

Do you keep your pets with you all the time or just leave them behind as soon as you get to dark room or get sick of them eating your food?
Keep my pets until they step on a level teleport trap!

Do you play with as many pets as possible?
i.e: Do you let your large cat kill a kitten or feed the kitten your only tripe ration?
Actually, never tried that before.

Which weapons do you choose?
None. I like Monks.

Do you eat poisionous things before you have found a reliable cure?
No, unless I'm a caveman... Then again, this may explain why i keep dying when I eat Kobold Zombie corpses.

What do you do while your character is hallucinating or truly blind?
I kill my pet unless I sit and hallucinate.
When blind, I usually sit until I regain my sight.

Do you kick down all the doors?
Ouch that hurts.

Do you ever lock doors?
"An endless stream of snakes pours forth!"


How do you secure useful items once they become a bit too heavy to carry?
I wish for a blessed bag of holding.

Do you ever hide strong armour and weapons so monsters cannot use it against you?
Nope, never tried that.

Me too, to a fault. I often die down there.

Scary. Have you had any success with them. I've never taken one far. I get confused by all the dietary rules.

I get impatient and sneak away to explore a new level.
I feel like it is a waste of exercising opportunities.

I guess you can't do much else

Nice idea, I actually never use it for escape, but should try it.
(Unfortunately, I've usually kicked down all the doors already

Ok, so you would have to be pretty scared before you'd bother.

Vegetarian diet: Don't eat corpses or tins of meat.

Vegan diet: No eggs.

Food rations of any kind may be eaten by the monk to abide by dietary restrictions.

What is nice is all the resistances you pick up as you level up. Plus, you can gain a few by eating "choice" creatures.

I haven't played that much nethack, I usually pick a 'random' character and see how far I can go. My favourite is the monk, and I think that I have made it to the bottom of the mines with one.

Never reached the quest level.

I feel like it is a waste of exercising opportunities.

Sounds too tough unless you get ring of slow digestion.

How do you think the game generates all the statues?

Its a stones level

You can pick up a cockatrice egg and it looks like any other egg.
...but eating it turns you straight to stone (in case you hadn't already guessed).
