I enjoyed Transport Tycoon somewhat, but the pathfinding algorithm for AI railroad track placement ruined a lot of the fun for me. Also the obscene year-long traffic jams. And the fact ships would get lost anyway no matter how good your buoy placement was.

I can easily see why some whould hate it.

I seemed to have more fun creating gigantic mountains to put my headquarters on than actually managing any transportation systems.

I remember a cheap knock-off of civilization along time ago, aswell - terrible game, but I can't remember the name.

LOL MArkG for some reason you are on my ignore list!!!! I didn't do anything... where do i unignore you??

Btw caesar II , Caesar3 had some interesting ideas but I don't understand how they completely ****ed the combat system that was so finely tuned out in Caesar 2. Also the annoying thing about housing was that sometimes nobody would want to come to your city no matter what...

Stupid they didn't improve (graphically and gameplay-wise) the good caesar2 concept...

For example the battles there involved some tactics already even though types of troops were limited to just 4 (for the romans anyway)

i'm still waiting for a game in which you can play tactical battles with ancient armies (including moving your army over greater distances, using weather and terrain at your advantage etc... Hannibal, at the battle of Cannae, fed his troops well that morning, while the romans hadn't had breakfast yet; and placed them on the battlefield with the wind in their back so the romans had it tough with the wind and dust in their faces!! Such things I simply find magnificent because it can effectively add to the power of an army!!)

          No argument there.

Real fun downloading a 40+ MB patch and still having the game be crap

! MarkG is on my Ignore List as well!
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Yeah, I presume it has something to do with older post's, it's not the same at A/C.

MarkG is on my ignore list too. A bug or...God is trying to tell you something MarkG!

Actually, I don't mind any of the games mentioned. Ascendancy could have done with a better AI but still hours and hours of enjoyment. And a good example of good graphics and low hard disk space (12MB) for DOS! So, who hoodwinked us into thinking we needed the resource-hungry Windows for such a game?

I've heard that it isn't a game at all without mods, but highly modifiable.
