Black and White could have been the greatest game ever. And when you first got it, it looked like it was. But it was released with some really obnoxious bugs, and the AI for the creature wasn't coded well enough; instead of being fun, the creature was often a frustration. Lastly, there were too few worlds in the SP game, and for two of them your creature was annoyingly hindered.
With 18 more months of development time, Black and White would have been right up there with Half-Life, Doom, Civilization, and all those beloved games. The engine was incredibly ahead of its time, the ideas were new and original, there was a lot of GTA-style freedom, and there were a lot of ways to entertain yourself without even trying to win.
