Scene 19 : The 14th Day

Skanky took a slug from his whiskey bottle. And another. He was nervous as he opened the box with the votes in...

"So..." he began "That's three votes for Ghengis. Let's kill him."

The villagers grabbed Ghengis and dragged him towards the bar's door.

"Wait," said Doc "There's seven of us in the town. Seven. Do you know what seven people means?"

The other villagers looked at him blankly.

"It means that there's four more votes in that bag," said Doc.

Ghengis got on his knees and prayed while Doc opened the bag.

"One vote for Skanky... two votes for Skanky... three votes for Skanky..."

Doc paused to look at Skanky and Ghengis...

"Four votes for Skanky." he concluded in a flat tone.

Skanky turned to flee, but Spaced Cowboy took his lasso and caught Skanky round the neck as he ran, bringing him to the floor. Kassiopeia leap into action, kicking Skanky repeatedly in the head with his heavy reindeer hide boots.

The other villagers ran up to stop him.

"Make him die more slowly!" shouted Ghengis "Make him suffer!"
"Stop!" cried ADG "Can't you see he's already dead?"
"Oh what the hell," said Doc and put the boot in as well.

It is now night. Will the mafia strike once more?

Scene 20 : The 14th Night

Spaced Cowboy was in the toilet at Skanky's bar. While he was gone the others were chatting...

"I was impressed by Spaced's skill with the lasso" said Doc
"Yeah," said Ghengis "That means he was probably the strangler"
"You think everyone is the killer except you..." replied Kassi "Wait... perhaps Spaced IS the killer!"
"I have a plan," said Vlad "Let's all stick together, and keep an eye on him tonight"
"I'm in" said ADG
"Me too" agreed everyone.

Spaced returned from the toilet.

"Hey Spaced" said ADG "We're all going home now"
"Ok, see you guys in the morning" replied the rancher.

* * * * *

It was nearly midnight when the five villagers met outside Spaced's house.

"Should we go in and confront him?" asked Ghengis
"Sure" replied Doc.

The villagers burst into Spaced's house.

"We've got you now, you killer!" declared ADG
Kassiopiea tapped ADG on the shoulder "Turn around and look up"
"Oh crap" said Vlad

Spaced Cowboy swung from the room beams over the stairwell.

"He knew we were coming, and hung himself with his own lasso" said Vlad
"He probably couldn't live with the shame of being found out as the Mafia" replied Ghengis

With a bit of help from Kassi, ADG cut down Spaced's corpse. Doc removed the Cowboy's hat for one final time and bent down to close his eyes.

"Wait" said Doc "Look at this."

The remaining villagers stared at Spaced's head then looked at each other. There was a moment's hesitatation then they turned and ran for the door.

Spaced's corpse lay on the floor, the top of his head smashed in like an egg by some blunt instrument.

It is now day, and the village can vote

Yeah, Doc Spike is starting to get desperate and is trying to frame me. I think the stranglings and beatings are just some weird pent up urge of his to say "to heck with hippopotomusic oath!"

Scene 21 : The Penultimate Day

When the sun rose the five remaining villagers slowly gathered in the town square, each holding a wary distance from the others.

"One of you four is a killer!" declared Ghengis "A brutal murderer!"
"So you always say" replied Doc.
"Its YOU" raged Ghengis "You are the killer, Doc"
"Oh my God" said Vlad "Look at Ghengis foaming at the mouth. I always suspected him."

The others agreed and Ghengis Farb was tied to the flagpole in the middle of the town square.

"What are we going to do with him?" asked ADG
"Kill him, I guess" said Vlad "But I won't do it."
"Why not?" asked Doc?
"Well," replied Vlad "It seems that you three are the ones with the most killing experience. I'm just the postman."
"But I'm a doctor!" insisted Doc, "I can't hurt people"
"And me and ADG help to feed people" said Kassi "We can't possibly hurt poor Ghengis"

"We'll do it together" decided Doc and gave everyone a doctor's scalpel "On the count of three"

The 4 villagers stood ready...

"One... Two... THREE!" On the last number all the villagers plunged the blades into Ghengis's body, over and over.

"Let's get cleaned up at home and sleep," suggested Kassi.

It is now night

Scene 22 : The Final Day (Part 1)

Although they were sure they had got the killer, the villagers met in the town square early the next morning. There were only three of them.

"Where's Kassi?" asked ADG?
"I dunno" said Doc
"Me neither" said Vlad

They waited a bit longer, just in case Kassi had slept late.

Gradually they moved away from each other a bit, then a bit more.

"One of two killed him!" declared Doc
"It was you or Vlad!" riposted ADG
"No chance" said Vlad "You two are probably BOTH killers!"

The villagers had to face the hardest vote ever.

It is now the Final Day
